Abstract:
This invention relates to an instructional device comprising a casing snugly enclosing a first central insert component and a second insert component. Each insert component has a combination of protruding fences, walled openings, and plain openings on a top and bottom surfaces. The first central insert component and the second central insert component is stacked together with the bottom surfaces of each central insert component communicating directly with each other resulting in the top surface of the first central insert component facing away from the top surface of the second central insert component. The stacking of the bottom surfaces with each other forms a series of internal enclosures and pathways while each top surface of the central insert components forms a series of external enclosures and pathways. The coordination of the internal and external enclosures and pathways forms several pathways permitting passage of an object from one top surface to the other top surface or through a middle compartment formed after stacking the first with the second central insert compartment. The object is the tool used to operate the device. A series of questions and answers are imprinted on each face and each pair of question and answer is contained in a cell. Correct and incorrect answers are given. The object is used to designate which answer is chosen by the user. Each answer has an opening leading to a definite pathway. All correct answers lead the object to the finish point while. incorrect answers make a user repeat or restart the operation.
Abstract:
Method for developing a flexible and efficient educational system in a computer environment, with the opportunity to protect instructions and data. An educational system consists of multiple program elements, composed by program elements from both a user computer device and possibly program elements from a server computer or other sending devices, such as those computers, represented on the Internet. All elements of the program is managed using instruction sets which exit's on the user's computer device or are being sent from a server or other sending device. The instruction sets are divided into groups by topics, which for example relate to “overview map”, “self-study”, “lecture”, “assignment preparation” and “group collaboration” plus “browse”. Using the instruction sets, an electronic educational process can be developed, which is very much similar to a normal educational process. The instruction sets and data can be protected against being copied, which provides the supplier of an educational program protection against copying of the educational system. The advantage of the educational system is primarily that educational programs can be executed in a concentrated environment with frequently and improved execution with rapid search times, where search in large quantities of data can be avoided, as it is known with searches on the Internet.

In one aspect, the invention provides a system and method for enabling examinees to sit examinations in a controlled manner while they may be physically distant from the classroom. The examination paper may take the format of a multiple selection paper, a free response paper or a combination of the two, and the system of the invention can be utilized in the administration of the examination.
Abstract:
This invention provides various systems and methods for integrating individualized, objectively managed, computer-assisted learning and directed instruction. The systems and methods of this invention utilize management information to objectively prescribe an individualized integrated instruction plan, which includes individualized computer-based instruction. The individualized computer-based instruction serves as the core means of instruction for a particular subject, effectively replacing textbooks. Initially, each individual is given a gateway test to determine whether the individual has mastered all of the elementary, foundation skills necessary in the particular subject and identify the individual's fund of knowledge in the subject. From the results of the initial test, each individual's areas of understanding and weakness are revealed. As the results of the initial, and any subsequent assessment tests are analyzed, an individual instruction plan is developed, from which lessons are generated and assigned to each individual based on what the individual has not mastered. The systems and methods of this invention also ensure that each individual receives small group instruction with an instructor in addition to the computerized instruction. Each small group is formed, or reformed, of individuals who possess similar funds of knowledge in the particular subject. User-friendly management information is a cornerstone of the objective and/or subjective decisions made in the instructional process.

Abstract:
A method and a system for implementing a multi-way game are disclosed, wherein a combination of a learning software and a game software is used, and the user can still perform the game playing procedure. The present invention first divides the game software into a number of game stages, according to the difficulty level or the procedure property of the game software. Then, a source weight for each of a number of game sources needed by each of the game stages is determined, so that a game evaluating module is set up. According to the difficulty level and content of the learning software, a learning weight is respectively determined, so that a learning evaluating module is set up. Next, a related database is set up according to the source weight, the learning evaluating weight, and a transformation function, so that the source weight and the learning evaluating weight can be exchanged to each other. Further still, in each game progress, the user can select an operation on the game software or the learning software, so as to control the game progress. The present invention can provide for the user a more interesting and entertaining learning method by integrating the educational process into the game manner.
Abstract:
A method to perform an adaptive test performs a pressure sensitivity test to examine a pressure sensitivity of a solver to time, and judges, based on a result of the pressure sensitivity test, whether or not the pressure sensitivity of the solver is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold. If the pressure sensitivity is equal to or higher than the predetermined threshold, the solver is prompted to answer a pending question, acquires an input of the answer, and determines if a time period consumed by the solver in answering the pending question is shorter than a time limit set for answering the pending question and, if shorter, gives the solver an increased time limit for answering a next question.
Abstract:
Providing methods and systems for a computer-aided group-learning environment, where a number of users can interact and work on a subject together. The system and method can monitor and analyze users' inputs. The analysis process can identify a user's performance on the subject, and can understand some of the user's traits, such as confidence level and learning attitude. The system can include an interaction controller, which sets a duration of time for the users to communicate in a dialogue environment. Working on the subject in a group and working alone can be intertwined. For example, the users first work on the materials generated individually, and then solve the problem together in a dialogue environment. During the dialogue session, the interaction controller can provide hints to the users. The system can also include a user registry, which restricts the users who can use the embodiment to work on the subject. The registry can receive potential user's characteristics to determine whether such user may be allowed to join the existing users to work on the subject. The registry can also access a summarized profile of the existing users to help the potential user make joining decisions. The system can also include a notepad for a user to take notes. The interaction controller can also guide the user to take notes.
Abstract:
An adaptive performance support system is disclosed for facilitating access and presentation of information to a user. The system receives input of a scope of interest of the user including an access level, a working mode and a lesson/task/subject. The access level reflects the proficiency level of the user, such as novice, intermediate or advanced. The working mode reflects what the user wants to do, such as undertake a lesson to learn about, perform a task or browse topical or task related information on a particular subject. The lesson/task/subject is the subject matter of interest to the user. The system then selects information relevant to the chosen lesson/task/subject, oriented to the specified working mode and appropriate to the specified access level from a general pool of knowledge. The selected information is then interactively presented to the user avoiding the presentation of extraneous information.
