    Abstract: While it is well known to power traffic control devices (for example, traffic lights) by an alternative energy source during power outages, some embodiments of the present invention additionally have: (i) a set of control computer(s), remote from the various traffic control devices, that is powered by an alternative energy source during a power outage; and/or (ii) a communication network, for communications between the set of control computer(s) and the various traffic control devices, that is powered by an alternative power source during a power outage. The use of alternative power to power the control computer(s) (for example, a hub) and/or the communication network allows the traffic control devices to continue to operate in a coordinated manner as instructed by the control computers, thereby avoiding a situation where the traffic lights begin operating independently of each other during a power outage.

    Abstract: A transportation system has transport vehicles with electric motors, pods, being enclosed compartments that accommodate cargo, podports, being exchange stations, charging stations, and a computerized transport control system. An authorized person communicates a request to the computerized transport control system to transport a specific cargo from a first location in the geographic area to a second location in the geographic area, the computerized transport control system defines a journey from the first location to the second location, along a route comprising sequential hops through a series of podports and charging stations. The computerized transport control system manages movement of transport vehicles, exchanges at podports, and charging at charging stations along the defined route, and terminates the journey at the second location where the cargo disembarks.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for detecting light state data, which includes: acquiring light state data of traffic lights, and acquiring control information of the traffic lights, where the light state data includes period time information and/or phase sequence information, the period time information characterizes time information of lighting each light holder in the traffic lights in a period, the phase sequence information characterizes a green light order of each phase corresponding to the traffic lights; and the control information characterizes a control rule of the traffic lights; and performing consistency matching between the light state data and the control information to obtain a first matching result, and determining a detection result of the light state data according to the first matching result.

    Abstract: A smart traffic control device implements a method for detecting faulty sensors that result in false green requests and/or undetected true green requests. The faulty sensors may include inductive loops and pedestrian pushbuttons. The traffic control device may communicate with remote resources, including computer systems connected to human resources, to help identify the faulty sensors. The human resources may be crowdsourced. The traffic control device's communications with the remote resources may go through vehicle computers and smart phones of vehicles' occupants and pedestrians. The traffic control device may emit signals to enable vehicle computers to improve accuracy of position location. The traffic control device may emit its state (e.g., Green/Yellow/Red in various directions) and time to state changes, in real or substantially real time. A vehicle computer may receive the state and/or time to state changes and vary operation of the vehicle's power train in response thereto.
