Abstract: Traffic control systems implement methods for detecting various malfunctions including faulty sensors and sensor connections that may result in false green requests, undetected green requests, and faults with the visual displays of a traffic control device (TCD). The sensors may include inductive loops and pedestrian pushbuttons. A TCD may communicate with remote resources to help identify faults. The remote resources may include computer systems, which may be configured to interact with human resources such as crowdsourced resources. A TCD's communications with the remote resources may go through vehicle computers and smart phones of vehicles' occupants and pedestrians. A TCD may emit signals to enable vehicle computers to improve accuracy of position location. A TCD may emit its state and time-to-state-change information, in real or substantially real time. A vehicle computer may receive the state and/or time to state changes and in response vary operation of the vehicle's power train.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for stabilizing an image, a roadside device, and a cloud control platform are provided. The method may include: calculating, for a current image in an image sequence, a first offset between each image stabilization box of the current image and a corresponding image stabilization box of a template image; adding a first offset meeting a first preset condition to an observation list of a corresponding image stabilization box of the template image until there is an observation list meeting a second preset condition; and determining a position of the signal light of the current image, based on a first offset in an observation list of at least one image stabilization box and a position of the signal light of the template image.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for navigating a vehicle are disclosed. The methods include extracting lane segment data associated with lane segments of a vector map that are within a region of interest, and analyzing the lane segment data and a heading of the vehicle to determine whether motion of the vehicle satisfies a condition. The condition can be associated with (i) an association between the heading of the vehicle and a direction of travel of a lane that corresponds to the current location of the vehicle and/or (ii) a minimum stopping distance to an imminent traffic control measure in the lane that corresponds to the current location of the vehicle. When the motion does not satisfy the condition, the methods include causing the vehicle to perform a motion correction.

Abstract: While it is well known to power traffic control devices (for example, traffic lights) by an alternative energy source during power outages, some embodiments of the present invention additionally have: (i) a set of control computer(s), remote from the various traffic control devices, that is powered by an alternative energy source during a power outage; and/or (ii) a communication network, for communications between the set of control computer(s) and the various traffic control devices, that is powered by an alternative power source during a power outage. The use of alternative power to power the control computer(s) (for example, a hub) and/or the communication network allows the traffic control devices to continue to operate in a coordinated manner as instructed by the control computers, thereby avoiding a situation where the traffic lights begin operating independently of each other during a power outage.
