Abstract:
A media processing device enables conveying media fed from different paths into a common path in a stable conveyance state to the scanning position of a scanner. A check processing device has a path switching member that selectively bridges a back path for conveying checks and a card path to a downstream path, which is a common path. The path switching member changes position and switches the connected paths in conjunction with movement of a shutter that covers the open part of a nozzle cap used to cap the nozzle face of the inkjet head at the back path.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus according to one aspect of the present disclosure is an image forming apparatus of which the apparatus main body is provided with an IC card reader that reads data input to a noncontact IC card. The IC card reader is installed at an angle enabling a detection surface to face downward relative to the apparatus main body.
Abstract:
A combination magnetic-stripe card reader with integrated contact-less chip card read/write functions, a direct replacement for a standard player tracking magnetic-stripe card reader installed in slot machines. It is a form, fit and function for existing player tracking readers, having the same front panel appearance, the same physical envelope, using the same mounting method, using the same cable connections and operating in the identical manner. The combined functions requires two command sets and a method to distinguish between them, the legacy command set of the existing reader to be replaced which is typically strings of American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) eight bit characters with a line terminator character and the contact-less chip card requiring the ability to send and receive all possible eight bit values with varying length commands and not having a dedicated character value to indicate the end of a command.
Abstract:
A method and system for providing accurate location of a consumer service device (CSD) in a retail establishment via light modulated by a reflector with a location code. A plurality of location code reflectors (LCRs) are hung from the ceiling of the retail establishment. Each LCR is placed at a preset angle to reflect and modulate a laser beam (or other light source) with a unique location code down to the ground. A laser generation device (LGD) emits a laser beam, which is modulated by the location code when it is reflected off of the LCRs and is reflected to the ground. The modulated laser beam is captured/received by a photo detector/digitizer of the CSD. When the CSD's photo detector/digitizer receives the modulated location code, the location code is utilized to determine an actual physical location of the CSD. The items at that physical location and/or discounts, etc., may be outputted to the consumer.
Abstract:
An optical code reader system is provided for reading a presented optical code having first and second sets of elements, the first set of elements including a plurality of elements having a first reflective property and the second set of elements including a plurality of elements having a second reflective property. The system includes a photo sensor module which senses incident light reflected from the presented optical code and generates electrical signals corresponding to the sensing. The system further includes a software decoder module executable on a processor for uncompensating the presented optical code by adjusting a relative measured dimension of individual elements of the first set of elements in accordance with a predetermined adjustment factor for uncompensating the first set of elements without uncompensating the second set of elements for generating an uncompensated optical code.
Abstract:
An automated check-in and check-out for a user needing rental space. Specifically, there is an electronic device configured to: provide information regarding the rental space available for rental; provide the user with a way to select desired information; and provide for entry of data needed to use the rental space. Provide automated reservation check in/out management without interaction of business personnel. The device works for rental space that is selected from the group selected from: RV Park, hotel, motel, resort cabins, property storage units, camp sites, harbor boat slips, cruise ship cabins. Additionally, the electronic device gives a list of services provided to a user at the rental space. Wherein the list of services provided to a user at the rental space is selected from the group consisting of: laundry pick-up and delivery, propane gas delivery, grocery delivery, pharmaceutical delivery, pizza delivery, and a mobile mechanic repair service.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a parking system having a parking meter in close proximity to a corresponding parking bay in which a user's vehicle is able to be parked. A payment receiving means is further provided for receiving payment and thereafter establishing a parking period in which the vehicle is able to be legitimately parked in the bay. There is provided a communication means for sending a message to the user's mobile phone prior to the expiry of the parking period. The message alerts the user that the parking period will soon expire and that the user must either move the vehicle before the expiry of the parking period or make an additional payment, if allowable, to remain legitimately parked.
Abstract:
An automated system for preparing cards for further processing includes an envelope feed hopper configured to receive a plurality of envelopes, each having contents including a card carrier and one or more cards attached thereto. The systems also includes an envelope opener configured to receive envelopes from the hopper and create an opening into each envelope. The system further includes a contents parser configured to separate a card carrier and card attached thereto from an envelope. The system also includes a card carrier alignment device configured to unfold a card carrier and align the carrier for further processing and a separation mechanism configured to receive card carriers from the alignment device and separate the card from the carrier. The system also includes a controller programmed to control operation of the system.
Abstract:
A card connector includes a required number of contacts adapted to contact connection portions of the plurality of the memory cards, and a case arranging and holding the contacts therein and having a plurality of inserting holes for the memory cards. The connector includes at least one locking member movable or pivotally movable when a memory card is inserted, and at least one spring member displaceable when the memory card is inserted. In one aspect, a card connector includes at least one slider for forming parts of the plurality of inserting holes, and at least one holder for movably holding the slider. Consequently, the card connector is able to prevent the insertion of more than one memory card with a simple construction, to provide a miniaturized and high-density connector without any limitation of circuit board design, and easy to design its case and easy to remove the inserted card.
Abstract:
This invention is to provide an ultra-miniaturized, thin-sized memory card provided with a mechanism for preventing a wrong insertion to a memory card slot. A multi-function memory card is composed of a card body and a cap for housing the card body. The card body is made of mold resin that encapsulates plural semiconductor chips mounted on a main surface of a wiring substrate. The card body is housed into the cap with the back face of the wiring substrate facing outward. Guide channels are provided at both side faces of the cap for preventing that the card is inserted upside down. Further, a convex section is provided at the trailing edge of the cap for preventing that the card is inserted in the wrong direction.
