摘要: An aircraft wall assembly comprises a panel comprising a ballistic protection layer configured to deform to absorb energy during a projectile impact; and a barrier, wherein the ballistic protection layer comprises a constrained portion, wherein deformation of the ballistic protection layer is constrained at the constrained portion such that the energy absorbed by the constrained portion during the projectile impact is reduced; wherein the barrier is configured to deflect projectile material that passes through the constrained portion of the panel during the projectile impact.

摘要: Armor for protection against projectiles, shrapnel, blades, and other penetrants has an inner container subdivided into cells, with the cells being filled with a slurry made of dilatant (shear-thickening fluid) and hard particles. The opposing outer surfaces of the container are shielded by ballistic fabric layers and hard outer plates, with the container, fabric layers, and plates then preferably being bound together by an outer envelope. The various layers of the armor cooperate to provide high protection against penetrants, while at the same time providing lightweight and easily repairable armor suitable for cladding of personnel, vehicles, buildings, and other structures.

摘要: New devices, systems and methods are provided for protecting personnel and/or equipment from projectiles and other weapons. In some embodiments, a field of shielding particles or other interception media is activated on or about a location determined to intercept one or more projectile(s) or other physical threat(s). In some embodiments, electromagnets are included within such device(s) or system(s), for driving the interception media and/or projectiles away from the protected personnel and/or equipment. In some aspects of the invention, a control system using sensors with one or more sampling points are included, and determine the location and probable trajectory(ies) of an incoming projectile, and deploy the interception media to intercept the incoming projectile or other weapon.

摘要: A visual obscurant system for obscuring object from an observer having a field of view (FOV) is disclosed. The system comprises a sensor for detecting characteristics that indicate a presence of the object, a light source for emitting light in an electromagnetic spectrum, a source, and a controller. The source releases an obscurant into atmosphere to create a cloud. The obscurant attenuates a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The cloud is positioned within the FOV of the observer so as to obscure the object when the light emitted from the light source is directed towards the cloud. The controller is in communication with at least the sensor and the source. The controller modulates the light source at a frequency sufficient such that the observer interprets the light as being constant when energized.

摘要: A system for adaptively shielding a structure includes an armor assembly including one or more armor modules. Each armor module may include one or more electromagnets coupled to a housing that retains a plurality of shielding particles. The electromagnet(s) are configured to be activated in response to an impending threat of a projectile impact. The shielding particles are attracted to the one or more electromagnets to form a shielding barrier in response to activation of the electromagnet(s). The shielding barrier is configured to absorb at least a portion of a force of the projectile impact.
