Abstract: A system, method, and blocking pad for utilizing a blocking pad. An alert of a potentially violent situation involving a special individual is received. A blocking pad is retrieved. The blocking pad includes a first edge, a second, edge, a third edge and a fourth edge. The first edge is opposite the second edge, the third edge is opposite the fourth edge. A pad is disposed between the first, second, third, and fourth edges. A first side handle is aligned with the third edge, and a second side handle is aligned with the fourth edge. The blocking pad is utilized to prevent the special individual from harming himself/herself or from harming the user.

Abstract: A system, method, and blocking pad for preventing injury to a user resulting from strikes received from a special individual who suffers from emotional or behavioral challenges. The blocking pad includes a first edge, a second edge, a third edge, and a fourth edge, the first edge opposite the second edge, the third edge opposite the fourth edge. The blocking pad includes a pad disposed between the first, second, third, and fourth edges. The blocking pad further includes a first top handle aligned with the first edge, a first side handle aligned with the third edge, and a second side handle aligned with the fourth edge. The pad and the handles allow the blocking pad to be quickly utilized to prevent the special individual from harming the user or his/her head, face, hands, feet or sensitive areas of the body.

Abstract: A compact, inflatable and portable ballistic shield and stretcher device is disclosed herein. The combination device comprises one or more inflatable panels, a protective cover, one or more straps for handling the combination device, a protective layer, a housing, and an optional wheel assembly for easily transporting the device, and that may also serve as a pump for purposes of inflating the inflatable panels if a source of compressed gas is not readily available. The panels of the portable ballistic shield and stretcher device can be selectively inflated on demand and as needed, and the portable ballistic shield and stretcher device can also be removably attached to other portable ballistic shield and stretcher devices to form a barrier to protect a user from arms fire and other unwanted projectiles.

Abstract: A camera holder for a ballistic or riot shield has a front layer and a backing layer defining a pocketing. The camera holder is attached to the shield, either fixedly or removably. The camera holder includes attachment material such as hook and loop fastener or adhesive to retainer cabling or the camera itself to the camera holder. In some cases the backing layer comprises a self-reinforced compositing materials that conforms to the curved or radiused surface of the shield. In an example, the camera holder is used to re-mount a chest camera so that its view is not obstructed by the shield.

Abstract: A patrol vehicle protection system with a quick release bullet resistant transparent panel system that requires no permanent modifications to the patrol vehicle, offers head impact safety protection, and may be used as a handheld protective shield. The system includes a bullet resistant transparent panel that temporarily attaches to a mounting mechanism mounted inside the door window opening. The mechanism includes upper and lower brackets that engage the window tracks around the door window opening. An optional vertical brace may be used to hold the brackets in place. The transparent panel is securely held between the two brackets with magnets that allow release of the panel in a side impact collision. The system includes at lateral force generating device mounted to a bracket that is activated when a side impact is detected forcing the transparent panel outward. The system also includes a quick release handle configured to be selectively attached to the transparent panel enabling to be removed and used as a protective shield.

Abstract: A convertible bullet-proof backpack and vest includes a body section divided into a front portion, a middle portion, and back portion. The middle portion has a head slot opening, and the front and back portions have respective sections of bullet-proof fabric integrated therein. A zipper runs around an outer perimeter of the front and back portions. In a backpack configuration, the front portion and the back portion fold toward each other and the zipper secures the outer perimeters of the front portion and the back portion together thereby forming a hollow backpack interior between them. In a bullet-proof vest configuration, the zipper is unzipped thereby allowing a user to insert their head through the head slot opening such that the front portion hangs in front of a torso of the user and the back portion hangs behind the torso of the user.

Abstract: A foldable shield transformable from an extended use position to a folded transport position and vice versa includes shield plates and spring loaded hinges connecting the shield plates. Restraint devices hold the shield to a user's forearm during use. A release device releases cooperating locks so that the hinge devices bring the shield plates from the transport position to the extended use position. The shield is brought to the transport position by folding of the first shield plate toward the second shield plate and folding of the third shield plate against the first shield plate. The first shield plate has a maximum width between the long sides that is less than corresponding widths of the other two shield plates for sufficient clearance for the folding of the third shield plate. When folded, the shield plates are located on top of each other in a substantially flat package.
