摘要: A method of using an anti-ballistic protection system for protecting an interior space in a building. The ballistic barrier includes a laminated material having a plurality of layers of lightweight, flexible, ballistic resistant material such as woven sheets which are secured together into the laminate using a adhesive, heat weld, or stitching. The ballistic barrier is configured to be in a compact retracted state which can be deployed to provide a protective state to protect against kinetic ballistic projectiles. The system may include an automated control system operably configured to change the state of the ballistic barrier from the retracted state to the protective deployed state, such that upon sensing a threatening event or condition triggers a transition from the retracted state to the deployed protective state such that in the protective state. The ballistic barrier in the deployed state is configured to be resistant to penetration by high-speed ballistic projectiles such as a bullet fired from a gun or a shrapnel from a bomb to protect the interior space.

摘要: A blind system comprising a plurality of slats having a ballistic resistant material; a control system operably configured to cause a change in state of the blind from an open state to a protective closed state; and a sensing system operably configured to detect a threatening event, wherein the sensing system upon sensing the threatening event triggers the control system to transition from the open state to the protective state such that in the protective state, the blinds are adapted to be resistant to penetration by high-speed ballistic objects

摘要: A force transfer system includes a body and an article. The article includes a first portion forming a first lateral axis and a second portion forming a second lateral axis, the axes being offset. An intermediate member is disposed between the first portion and the second portion, and holds the second portion to the first portion. A stimulus received by the first portion causes a temporary alteration of the intermediate member from an initial condition, the alteration of the intermediate member thereby causing a change in a characteristic of the second portion. The intermediate member subsequently returns to the initial condition, thereby causing a change in a characteristic of the first portion, which is influenced by the change in the characteristic of the second portion. The change in the characteristic of the first and second portions prevents at least a portion of the stimulus from reaching the body.

摘要: A patrol vehicle protection system with a quick release bullet resistant transparent panel system that requires no permanent modifications to the patrol vehicle, offers head impact safety protection, and may be used as a handheld protective shield. The system includes a bullet resistant transparent panel that temporarily attaches to a mounting mechanism mounted inside the door window opening. The mechanism includes upper and lower brackets that engage the window tracks around the door window opening. An optional vertical brace may be used to hold the brackets in place. The transparent panel is securely held between the two brackets with magnets that allow release of the panel in a side impact collision. The system includes at lateral force generating device mounted to a bracket that is activated when a side impact is detected forcing the transparent panel outward. The system also includes a quick release handle configured to be selectively attached to the transparent panel enabling to be removed and used as a protective shield.

摘要: The present invention relates to a shock absorbing vehicle window arrangement for a vehicle cab, the window arrangement comprises a transparent polymer windshield, a metal frame having a width extending in the direction parallel to the plane of the transparent polymer windshield and a depth extending in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the transparent polymer windshield, the metal frame comprising: an outer portion, at least partially extending on the outside of the transparent polymer windshield, and an inner portion, at least partially extending on the inside of the transparent polymer windshield. The outer portion overlaps the transparent polymer windshield with at least 0.5% of the length of the windshield, in the direction extending perpendicular from the length axis of the portion of the metal frame that extends on the outside of the transparent polymer windshield, the metal frame comprises a horizontally extending portion comprising a flexible portion.
