摘要: A circuit board that is added to a slide of an semiautomatic handgun for the purpose of counting fired rounds and providing a low ammunition round count signal, as well as a slide lock warning signal, indicating an out of ammunition condition. The circuit board is preferably saddle shaped with downwardly depending wings where warning lights can be located. The board is positioned between front and rear gun sights, below the aiming line of sight, with the saddle shape allowing placement of LEDs that can be seen behind the rear gun sight. In one embodiment, circuitry on the circuit board faces the slide so that the normal underside of the circuit board faces upwardly but below portions of gun sights that establish aiming.

摘要: A personal weapon system comprises a microprocessor-controlled and electronically fired "blow-forward" handgun with a firing parameter memory device, digital security lock and safety device, directional compass, electronic rounds counter, integral keyboard and liquid crystal display, laser designator capability, programmable piezo-resistive trigger, and high frequency A.C. ignitable primer. A microprocessor receives information from a real time clock, Hall-effect rounds counter, and an integral Hall-effect compass. The processor displays this information on the LCD display for the operator. When a round is fired, the microprocessor records time and date, number of rounds fired, and direction of firing for crime lab analysis. The trigger pressure required to fire the handgun is programmable by the operator, and a corresponding trigger detonation mark is displayed on the LCD display. Trigger pressure exerted by the operator is displayed on the LCD display as a bar graph which lengthens in proportion to trigger pressure applied. The weapon fires when the bar graph reaches the trigger detonation mark.

摘要: A method and apparatus for firing a firearm. A trigger is pulled which causes a hammer to rotate away from an electrical power source. After the hammer passes its maximum position, it is released by the trigger releases it, thereby causing the hammer to strike the electrical power source. The force from the hammer causes electrical energy to flow from the electrical power source to an electrically activated primer, thereby igniting the primer.

摘要: An electrical firing mechanism for hand guns and small caliber machine guns having a tension trigger which tightens a compression spring locading an impact member which when released strikes a piezo-voltage generator. The output of the generator leads to an electrical detonator. A firing mode selecting system, includes a lever which serves to engage a safety to block the trigger and to provide other firing modes such as burst and sustained fire. An additional source of electrical energy is provided in addition to the piezo-voltage generator, which can be connected with the detonator by way of the trigger, and the selecting system.

In one embodiment of the invention, a projectile includes a body having a nose portion and a tail portion, a plurality of propellant charges contained within the body, a plurality of selectable initiators contained within the body for ignition of respective propellant charges, one or more ports for exit of ignition gases produced by the charges for propulsion of the projectile from the weapon, and one or more inductors for inducing a firing current, where at least one initiator only initiates on receiving a firing current which is different from the firing signal required to initiate the other initiators.

摘要: A piezo-electric trigger lever transmits a signal to a piezo-electric mechanism which releases the firing pin of a firearm. The signal from the trigger lever is passed through an electronic circuit or microprocessor which can process the signal before it is passed on to fire the firearm. The processing may include regulating the firing as a function of the pressure applied to the trigger; preventing operation unless the operator enters a predetermined code into the electronic logic circuit; and, in the case of an automatic firearm, regulate the number of shots fired per trigger pull. The operator may make in-the-field adjustments in these controls. The signal is transmitted from the logic circuit to a second piezo-electric device. This second device deflects to allow the release of the firing pin. Other pressure sensitive piezo-electric devices can be employed to act as safety mechanisms.

摘要: A trigger mechanism for electrically ignited weapons having a source of electric energy. Leads are provided which connect the source of energy with the electrical ignition means for a propelling charge contained in the weapon, and a normally open switch is interposed in one of said leads, which switch can be closed for igniting the ignition means by pulling the trigger. The source of energy comprises a piezoelectric body and a capacitor connected in parallel with the piezoelectric body, the trigger being coupled with a striker which is tripped from a tensioned position when the trigger is pulled and released for striking the piezoelectric body before the switch closes. The leads are connected with the capacitor and a diode is arranged between the piezoelectric body and the capacitor, the polarity thereof being such that the charge produced as a result of the blow of the striker against the piezoelectric body flows into the capacitor but cannot flow back from the capacitor to the piezoelectric body and the electrical energy stored in the capacitor is available for igniting the ignition means when the switch subsequently closes.
