Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems, devices, and techniques that can be implemented at a gun, such as an electromechanical gun. The gun may include a barrel located within a slide and a cylindrical spring enveloping the barrel. The barrel may be configured to act as a guide rod for the cylindrical spring, and the cylindrical spring may be configured to bias the slide in a forward battery position. The gun may include an electronic component such as an energy store, a processor, or a circuit board, located under the barrel and forward of the trigger when the gun is in an upright position. The gun may include a physical transmission medium that electronically couples the electronic component with an additional electronic component located rearward of the trigger, and the physical transmission medium may be at least partially encapsulated by a trigger guard.

Abstract: A system and method for determining a discharge event of a firearm is provided. An event detection module receives acceleration and rotation input signals from an inertial measurement unit configured on the firearm. Respective acceleration and rotation input signals are assigned to sample event candidates at respective windows of time. The acceleration signals of the sampled event candidates are compared to a discharge acceleration template that represents a confirmed weapon discharge event. A subset of accepted accelerations from the sampled event candidates are identified that satisfy the discharge acceleration template. A first rotation input signal from the sample window of time associated with each accepted acceleration in the subset is compared to a first rotation template that represents a confirmed weapon discharge event. A determination is made whether the sample event candidate is a discharge event based on satisfying both the discharge acceleration template and the first rotation template.

Abstract: Systems for universally locking a trigger of a firearm are provided that require authentication to transition the firearm to an unlocked state. In general, examples of the systems for universally locking a trigger of a firearm described herein are located in an interchangeable grip portion of the firearm or mounted to an accessory rail of the firearm. Embodiments of the system generally include trigger interference or blocking members to prevent actuation of the trigger until the authentication system has authorized the user to fire the firearm. Once the system is authenticated, embodiments of the system remain in an unlocked state while the user is grasping the firearm. When the user removes their hand from the firearm, embodiments of the trigger locking system automatically returns to a locked state, reducing or eliminating unauthorized use of the firearm.

Abstract: A firearm locking system that can lock a trigger by remote activation by an authorized user using a trigger lock that can block a trigger of a firearm from being pulled sufficiently to fire the firearm, The trigger lock can be advanced forward into the locked configuration and retracted into an unlocked configuration with the use of an actuator, such as a motor, Tamper-resistant features can be employed to prevent unauthorized users from disabling the firearm locking system. For example, when the trigger lock blocks the trigger, the trigger lock can also lock the upper receiver from being removed preventing access to the firearm locking system from the top of the firearm. The actuator or can be detachably connected to the trigger lock such that when the grip is removed, the actuator disconnects from the trigger lock causing the trigger lock to enter a jammed configuration.

Abstract: A system and method for counting persons using passages entering or exiting an area by analyzing vibrations in the floor with sensors and a machine learning system. The machine learning system uses a model, usually implemented as a neural network on a processor. The network is trained in levels and implemented in layers. Different levels classify and analyze vibrations by timing and frequency, by movements of persons, and by identity of persons The same person is identified by patterns in the vibrations and the vibrations are correlated to determine when a person uses a combination of passages and is thereby counted. Location information for the person is used to identify persons in places and doing activities of interest. The model may be trained on one processor and then downloaded to another processor for evaluation. Additional sensors and levels of training may be implemented on the latter processor.

Abstract: A magnetically actuated authentication and unlocking system is provided that is particularly suited for integration into a firearm, but that can also be incorporated into any device that requires an operator to hold a grip, handle or stick controller. The system includes a locking mechanism that is installed in a device and an unlocking mechanism that is preferably incorporated into wearable gear, such as a glove. The system utilizes magnets in the locking mechanism and unlocking mechanism, such that when a user wearing an unlock mechanism encoded with the correct magnetic “key” holds the device with the locking mechanism, the locking mechanism unlocks the device.

Abstract: Provided is a crossbow safety system comprising a crossbow, optic fence, and interlock. The crossbow may have a bowstring operable between a cocked and an uncocked position, the cocked position and the uncocked position defining between them a bowstring plane, and a trigger assembly adapted to selectably retain the bowstring in the cocked position. The optic fence may be adapted to detect an obstruction in a safety plane coincident with the bowstring plane or offset below the bowstring plane by some offset distance. The optic fence may have an infrared emitter adapted to output IR radiation, and a photodiode adapted to sense the output IR radiation from the infrared emitter. The interlock may be operationally engaged with the optic fence and the trigger assembly. The interlock may be adapted to lock the trigger assembly from releasing the bowstring if the optic fence detects an obstruction in the safety plane.

Abstract: A method of confirming the identity of a person who issued a token to signify eligibility for a privilege. Possession token is confirmed to be by the same person by using sensors in the token which track the movements of the person. A machine learning system is trained to evaluate the sensor data detecting transfer of possession of the token. The state of continuous possession since the token was issued or set to an enabled state is confirmed and the privilege is granted. The method of identity confirmation is used in various contexts such as for to control entry to a location, use of a facility or service. It is also useful to determine continuous possession of a weapon to prevent misuse after the weapon is stolen, dropped or lost. Servers, beacons and outside sources of data or inputs to be measured by the sensor can also be used.
