    摘要: A method for reducing NOx emissions from the combustion of carbonaceous fuels using three stages of oxidation and second stage in-situ furnace flue gas recirculation. In the first stage, a partial oxidation combustor is used to partially combust the fuel in the presence of preheated combustion air. The fuel gas produced in the partial oxidation process is passed to a second stage partial oxidation combustor while molten slag is removed and disposed of. Preheated combustion air also is introduced into the second stage of combustion to produce a slightly reducing flue gas and is injected into the furnace in such a way as to create the desired in-situ furnace flue gas recirculation. In the upper part of the furnace a third combustion air is mixed with the flue gas in a third stage of combustion to substantially complete the combustion process. Preheated steam may be added to the first or second stages of combustion. The stoichiometric ratios at each stage of combustion are controlled to minimize overall NOx emissions to acceptable levels. Further, an existing excess air cyclone-fired boiler furnace may be modified to operate in a three-stage combustion mode. This is accomplished by adding a preheated air system that includes two added air injection points into the furnace, with air introduction at a cyclone barrel re-entrant throat that is located at the interface between the cyclone barrel and the furnace, followed by overfire air introduction into the upper part of the furnace.

An aqueous potassium hydroxide dry scrubber method is used to reduce the formation of nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, hydrogen chlorides and hydrogen fluoride from plant flue gases. For those plants utilizing an electrostatic precipitator to remove particulate matter from the flue gas, the performance of this component is also enhanced by the injection of potassium hydroxide upstream of the component. As an added advantage, the final product has beneficial commercial utility as a fertilizer product, rather than having to be disposed in a landfill.

The method also includes the step of passing the flue gas through an oxygen feed stream pre-heater 144 at which heat from the flue gas is transferred to the oxygen feed stream. Furthermore, the method includes the step of separating the flue gas into an end product portion and a recycling portion. The method additionally includes cooling and compressing the end product portion of the flue gas so as to yield carbon dioxide in a liquid phase and directing the recycling portion of the flue gas to the circulating fluidized bed steam generator 10 to contribute to the combustion process therein.

    摘要: A device for controlling a gas-fired appliance having a thermoelectric device such as a thermopile is provided and, particularly, for controlling a damper and a main burner valve within a gas-fired appliance. The device includes a motor having a shaft extending therefrom for connection to a plate of a damper. The device further includes a control circuit that selectively transmits current from the thermoelectric device to the motor and to the main burner valve of the appliance. The control circuit includes a temperature sensor and a plurality of single pole double throw switches. When the temperature sensor determines that the temperature of a medium such as water or air is below a predetermined temperature, current is directed through the switches to the motor in order to open the damper. Once the damper is opened, current is redirected through the switches to the valve to open the valve. When the predetermined temperature is reached, current is again directed to the motor to close the damper and trap residual heat within the appliance.

In one embodiment, the abutments are in the form of tabs. The tabs are lanced from the wall of the vent tube and slant inwardly. The set of tabs nearer to the open end of the vent tube will flex outwardly to permit the catalyst to be inserted through the open end of the vent tube into position between the two sets of tabs. A wall of the oven chamber has an extruded hole over which the open end of the vent tube is fitted. In another embodiment, the abutments are in the form of dimples formed in the wall of the vent tube.
