    摘要： Earth auger pilot bit is an improvement upon U.S. Pat. No. 2,773,673. The body of the bit is cone-shaped with a ''''fish tail'''' lower extremity. The improvement consists of having two (or more) spiral cutting blades protruding from the cone-shaped body and extending into the fish-tail, the second blade on each side joining the leading blade of the other at the bottom of the bit to reinforce same. The plural blades resist fracture upon severe impact and divide the wear, thereby prolonging the life of the bit.

    摘要： Apparatus for unitizing a pair of side-by-side augers when each auger includes a shaft, a mateable rotational coupling on each end of the shaft, and flightings along the shaft, the unitizing apparatus includes bearings which are journaled on each end of the shaft and spacers pivotally attached between each of the bearings on the same end of the shaft in order to align the axis of the shafts substantially parallel with each other. A longitudinal support member is rigidly secured beween the spacers and between each of the flightings. A joining clevis is attached to the spacers so that they face in a manner to mate for interconnection with subsequent or preceding unitized assemblies.

    摘要： An earth boring apparatus having an auger flight with a tapered portion and a plurality of rotating cutters mounted along the flight. The cutters are mounted to the tapered portion of the flight such that a selected relationship is achieved between the thrust and radial loading on each cutter and its bearing and support means. For the cutters shown, this is accomplished by providing a selected angle between the rotational axis of each cutter and a plane normal to the rotational axis of the auger.
