Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a soil displacement drill comprising a drill pipe; a widening at one end of the drill pipe that is provided with (1) a screw blade for screwing the drill into the substrate, and (2) an outlet opening for the passage of material that is introduced for forming the foundation pile; and a flap that is movable between a first position for allowing unhindered screwing of the drill into the substrate and a second position for preventing the material from entering a screw groove. The screw groove is formed in the substrate by the screw blade during unscrewing of the drill from the substrate. The disclosure further relates to a method for forming a smooth foundation pile using such a drill.

Abstract: A system and method for installing an aggregate pier in a soil matrix includes a pipe configured to interface with a torque driver for rotating the pipe. A helix is disposed on the pipe and configured to advance/withdraw the pipe based on direction of rotation. A compacting device is disposed between the distal end of the pipe and the helix. It extends radially outward and upward. In some embodiments, the compacting device is configured as a frustum. A lift in an aggregate pier is formed by rotating the pipe in a second direction to withdraw a portion of the pipe from the soil matrix thereby creating a void; (b) filling the void with aggregate; (c) rotating the pipe in the first direction to advance the pipe. The compacting device contacts the aggregate disposed in the void and imparts an axial and radial force.

Abstract: Provided are a concrete foundation structure capable of firmly fixing a precast concrete foundation to a ground, and a method for constructing the concrete foundation structure. A concrete foundation structure 10 includes a precast concrete foundation 16 having a projecting portion 30 embedded in a ground G. An anchor plate 20 is placed inside an excavation hole 18 formed in the ground G, and the precast concrete foundation 16 and the anchor plate 20 are connected by a connecting member 22. In the excavation hole 18, a backfill portion 24 is formed of a backfill material 94 including a solidifying material and soil. A filler layer 26 is formed of a filler 96 containing a solidifying material between the precast concrete foundation 16 and the backfill portion 24. The precast concrete foundation 16 has a through-hole 42 through which the connecting member 22 is inserted, and the filler 96 forming the filler layer 26 is filled through the through-hole 42.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for plasma blasting comprises a borehole in soil, a blast probe comprising a high voltage electrode and a ground electrode separated by a dielectric separator, wherein the high voltage electrode and the dielectric separator constitute an adjustable probe tip, and an adjustment unit coupled to the adjustable probe tip, wherein the adjustment unit is configured to selectively extend or retract the adjustable probe tip relative to the ground electrode and a blasting media, wherein at least a portion of the high voltage electrode and the ground electrode are submerged in the blast media. The blasting media comprises wet concrete. The adjustable tip permits fine-tuning of the blast. The blast is used to force the wet concrete into a customized shape within the borehole.

Abstract: Apparatus for making foundation pilings includes a lead section with screw threads, at least one extension section, and a bit carried by the first of the extension sections. The bit slides onto the first, lower end of the extension section and is operable to compress the soil laterally to the extension sections and form a lateral groove in the soil. Grout fills the annular region of the hole bored by the apparatus including the grooves for lateral stability. Each extension section is formed to fit into the next one and to be secured to it by lateral bolts. The bolt heads prevent the bit from moving vertically as the lead section advances into the soil. Bits may be added to increase the size of the opening bored.

Abstract: A method to manufacture a native soil flowable fill includes hydro excavating native soil to form a hole at a first excavation, transferring the native soil from the first excavation to a debris tank, and adding a pozzolan component, cement and water to the debris tank. The method also includes mixing the native soil in the debris tank using a mixing apparatus to form the native soil flowable fill, and transferring the native soil flowable fill back to the first excavation into the hole. The native soil flowable fill comprises 30-90% by weight of native soil, 0-50% by weight of the added pozzolan component, 0-50% by weight of the cement, and 10-45% by weight of the water.
