    摘要: Disclosed is a flooding system for uprighting and setting marine structures into and above bodies of water. The structures include a surface platform and at least one hollow support leg. Each leg includes at least one port that when closed will seal the leg. The system includes a valve attached to each port. The valve serves as a closure that regulates the flow of water from the body of water through the port to flood the structure. An operator is coupled to each valve by a low friction remote control cable. The operator is located above the surface of the body of water and usually attached to the platform. The cable translates the relative motion of the operator to open and close the valve. The cable comprises a flexible member encased in a flexible casing. The flexible member is isolated from the casing by a bearing means that allows the member to move axially within the casing to translate the motion of the operation to control the valve.

    摘要: The Removable Bottom Founded Structure (RBFS) is an offshore platform for petroleum drilling and producing operations which is deployed in waters with severe weather and iceberg conditions. The structure is normally held down by gravity, but during the deballasting procedure a hold-down system is employed to keep the platform on the subbase until site evacuation. The system that is used to hold the platform down onto the subbase is located where the platform meets the subbase. It operates on the principle of hydrostatics. On the underside of the columns, there are multiple chambers which may be evacuated by pumping and which are vented to the outside atmosphere. Flexible seals that define these chambers are positively engaged by water to create a fluid-tight seal so that no seawater will enter the evacuated chambers. The reduction of the buoyancy forces will hold the platform onto the subbase until such time as the platform is totally deballasted. Once that has occurred, the hydrostatic hold-down system is disengaged and the platform will quickly rise to the surface.

    摘要: A platform for use as an artifical island wherein the platform comprises an immersed base of floats, vertical pillars and an emerged structure supported by said pillars. The floating base is formed by a disk of caissons. The vertical pillars are imbedded in the caissons and form the generating lines of a cylinder of substantially circular base. The emerged structure comprises a lower disk-shaped part traversed by the pillars, and an upper part comprised of modules which are joinable together to form a cylindrical assembly resting on the pillars. The floating disk may be dimensioned in relation to the platform and to the marine characteristics so as to offer low draft and high stability. Such dimensioning enables the platform to be entirely constructed in a shipyard and subsequently towed to the installation site.

    摘要: A floatable bottom-founded caisson is disclosed that is suitable for use in ice-covered waters. The annular caisson structure has a frusto-conical upwardly tapered inner wall which reduces skin friction between itself and the core fill material. By the application of heat and the use of insulation, freezing of the core fill material is prevented; this feature, together with the tapered wall, enables the caisson to be easily raised and moved to a new position. The outer, or perimetrical, wall is inclined to aid upward fracturing of the ice impinging on it. The caisson carries a deck structure for the support of offshore drilling or other equipment.

    摘要: A coupling system provides a controlled decoupling of interconnected component sections of a marine platform structure less rigid under seismic shock while maintaining sufficient overall ridigity to resist the action of swell. The coupling system comprises rigid interconnecting linkage parts, such as steel supports, and flexible interconnecting members, such as "Neoprene" supports, incorporated in the structure. The rigid linkage parts have a structural ridigity sufficient to maintain the overall rigidity of the platform but are effective to break following a seismic shock. The flexible interconnecting members are held in reserve and arranged to back up the rigid integrating parts. The flexible members have structural characteristics effective to maintain the controlled decoupling of the component sections when the steel supports deform or break. The coupling system providing the controlled decoupling is located at an upper level of the structure, preferably above water level, for ease of repair.
