摘要: Disclosed is a solution composition which may be used for a single-bath electrochemical passivation and a method using the same. The solution composition includes a metal cation, a metal-oxide anion; and an organic ligand, and optionally includes a non-metallic oxide anion or a polymer. The solution composition may prevent undesired precipitation of metal oxides before performing passivation. In addition, the method of passivation using the solution composition in a single-bath use is also provided.

摘要: Described herein is a method for substantially nickel-free phosphating of a metallic surface, wherein a metallic surface, optionally after cleaning and/or activation, is first treated with an acidic aqueous phosphating composition that includes zinc ions, manganese ions, and phosphate ions, and is optionally rinsed and/or dried, and is thereafter treated with an aqueous after-rinse composition that includes at least one kind of metal ion selected from the group consisting of the ions of molybdenum, copper, silver, gold, palladium, tin, antimony, titanium, zirconium, and hafnium and/or at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of the polymer classes of the polyamines, polyethyleneamines, polyanilines, polyimines, polyethyleneimines, polythiophenes, and polypryroles and also mixtures and copolymers thereof, with both the phosphating composition and the after-rinse composition being substantially nickel-free.

摘要: A surface treatment method for aluminum heat exchangers including (a) a step wherein a chemical conversion coating film is formed on the surface of an aluminum heat exchanger by subjecting the aluminum heat exchanger to chemical conversion using a chemical conversion agent; (b) a step wherein the aluminum heat exchanger, the surface of which has been provided with a chemical conversion coating film in step (a), is brought into contact with a hydrophilizing agent that contains a hydrophilic resin; and (c) a step wherein a hydrophilized coating film is formed on the surface of the aluminum heat exchanger by baking the aluminum heat exchanger, which has been subjected to a contact treatment in step (b). The chemical conversion agent used in step (a) contains zirconium and/or titanium in an amount of 5-5,000 ppm by mass in total, vanadium in an amount of 10-1,000 ppm by mass and a metal stabilizer in an amount of 5-5,000 ppm by mass. In addition, the chemical conversion agent used in step (a) has a pH of 2-6.

摘要: A method of producing a hot-dip galvanized steel sheet includes applying, to a hot-dip galvanized steel sheet having a Ra of 0.5 to 2.0 μm and a PPI of 150 or more, a predetermined surface treatment agent, i.e., a surface treatment agent containing a specified resin compound, a specified urethane resin having cationy, a specified silane coupling agent having a functional group, a specified organic Ti chelate compound, and a tetravalent vanadyl compound at a specified ratio; and drying the surface treatment agent at a ultimate sheet temperature of 50° C. to 180° C. to form a surface treatment coating film with a coating weight of 0.2 to 1.0 g/m2 on the surface of the steel sheet.

摘要: A surface treatment liquid contains a resin emulsion that contains a cationic urethane resin emulsion and/or a nonionic acrylic resin emulsion, a tetraalkoxysilane, at least one silane coupling agent (c) that contains at least one reactive functional group selected from active hydrogen-containing amino group, an epoxy group, a mercapto group, and a methacryloxy group, a chelating agent (d), a vanadic acid compound (e), a titanium compound (f), and water in a specific ratio. The surface treatment liquid has a pH of 3 to 6. The surface treatment liquid is applied to a surface of a zinc-based metal coated steel sheet and dried by heating to form a first layer. Next, a surface treatment liquid containing an organic resin is applied to a surface of the first layer and dried by heating to form a second layer.

摘要: A process for forming a coating on a metal substrate includes contacting the substrate with a molybdate solution having a pH of between 3.5 and 5 inclusive containing an acid with the proviso that the acid is not nitric acid. The substrate is contacted with the solution at a temperature between 30 and 75 degrees Celsius and results in a yellow coating that is kinetically stable from 20 seconds to 300 seconds before the coating darkens to a final black coloration. Water washing of the yellow coating precludes further color development. The resulting yellow coating is amenable to overlayering with a seal coat.
