Abstract: The invention relates to a method for separating a mixture in an installation comprising a first system comprising a plurality of chromatography columns, a second system downstream of the first system and a tank fed by an outlet line of the first system and feeding the second system with a continuous stream, the method successively comprising, in a cyclical manner, in a given part of the first system, steps of collecting a raffinate, injecting the mixture to be separated, collecting an extract and injecting a mobile phase; wherein the method further comprises the measurement of the purity and/or yield of at least one collected fraction, comprising: the determination of the concentration of at least two species of the mixture to be separated in the fraction collected in the tank; and the determination of the purity and/or yield of at least one species of the fraction collected in the tank.

Abstract: The present document describes a system and a process for the extraction of several products from apple peel. There are several unit operations involved including an ultrafiltration unit, concentration unit, and a three stage counter current separator centrifuge wherein water is used as the solvent. The final products that are extracted from apple peel include pectin, syrup, fibers, as well as soluble and dried retentate fractions.

Abstract: A method of enriching a material comprising glucose, fructose, and one or more components inert to isomerization using chromatography to produce a high purity fructose product. An embodiment of the method purifies high fructose corn syrup from a feedstock into three product streams: a first fraction rich in glucose, a second fructose product comprising an extract of fructose purity exceeding about 95%, and a third less pure fructose fraction comprising fructose ranging from about 55% to about 90% fructose purity. The third less pure fructose fraction may be combined with 42% fructose syrup to produce saleable mid-purity fructose product, such as having 55% fructose purity. An SMB system is also disclosed and comprises a first SMB separator, a second SMB separator, and an isomerization chamber.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for separating a mixture in a system comprising a plurality of chromatography columns, the method successively comprising, in a cyclical manner, in a given part of the system: a step of collecting a raffinate; a step of injecting the mixture to be separated; a step of collecting an extract; and a step of injecting a mobile phase; the method further comprising: determining, in a node of the system, the history of a variable representing the concentration of at least one species contained in the mixture to be separated; detecting, within said history, a characteristic point between the beginning of a step of collecting the extract and the end of the following step of collecting the raffinate; comparing the position of the characteristic point in relation to a target position; and adjusting the carrier volume of the characteristic point, modifying the position of the characteristic point in order to bring the position of the characteristic point closer to the target position; the volume of the mobile phase injected per cycle being maintained higher than, or equal to, a minimum threshold and/or lower than, or equal to, a maximum threshold. The invention also relates to a computer program for carrying out the steps of such a method, to a storage medium on which such a program is recorded, and to a system comprising a processor coupled to a memory on which such a program is recorded.

A soluble fraction produced by such a reaction comprises at least about 55% fructose on a dry weight basis, and can be separated from insoluble poly alpha-1,3-glucan product(s), thereby providing an aqueous composition comprising fructose.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a process for production of glucose having purity greater than 98% from pretreated cellulosic biomass comprising 50-95% cellulose, using thermo-chemical and enzymatic treatments. The process of the disclosure involves mild acid and/or alkali treatment of the pretreated cellulosic biomass for production of treated cellulosic biomass residue comprising polysaccharides containing greater than 98% glucose. The treatment results in high purity cellulose that is highly amenable to enzymatic hydrolysis and yields glucose having purity greater than 98%. The process of the disclosure also involves membrane separation of enzymes and oligosaccharides for recycling and separation of glucose to avoid product feedback inhibition.
