Abstract: A multiblock, cationic-functionalized norbornene copolymer is formed by a process including performing a vinyl addition polymerization in the presence of a metal catalyst of a first norbornene monomer substituted with a first alkyl group and a second norbornene monomer substituted with a second alkyl group by adding a predetermined amount of the first norbornene monomer and a predetermined amount of the second norbornene monomer sequentially to the reaction to form blocks of an intermediate norbornene multiblock copolymer. The second alkyl group includes a substituent which undergoes a reaction with a precursor for a cationic group having a volume less than 0.25 cm3/mol. The process further includes reacting the precursor for the cationic group with the intermediate norbornene multiblock copolymer to form the multiblock, cationic-functionalized norborene copolymer.

Abstract: According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, a composition includes about 5 to about 40 parts by weight of a solute copolymer component. The solute component optionally has one Tg or Tm of at least 25° C. The composition further includes about 60 to about 95 parts by weight of a solvent monomer. The solvent monomer component includes (meth)acrylate monomers and a multifunctional acrylate. The sum of the solute copolymer component and the solvent monomer component is 100 parts by weight. The composition further includes about 5 to about 100 parts of a plasticizer, relative to the 100 parts.

Abstract: A statistical, cationic-functionalized norbornene copolymer is formed by a process including performing a vinyl addition polymerization in the presence of a metal catalyst of a first norbornene monomer substituted with a first alkyl group and at least a second norbornene monomer substituted with a second alkyl group, to form an intermediate norbornene copolymer. The second alkyl group includes a substituent which undergoes a substitution reaction with a precursor of a cationic group. The process further includes adding the precursor for the cationic group to the intermediate norbornene copolymer to form the cationic functionalized norbornene copolymer. The cationic group has a volume of 0.25 cm3/mol or greater (for example, a phosphonium group or an imidazolium group).

Abstract: Provided is an elastic infill for artificial turf. The elastic infill is produced by pelletization of an elastomer composition comprising a silane coupling agent and a mixture of an olefin copolymer-containing base resin and an inorganic filler. The silane coupling agent is present in admixture with the mixture. Alternatively, the silane coupling agent may be grafted onto the olefin copolymer to allow cross-linking of the olefin copolymer in the presence of water.

Abstract: Methods, compositions, and systems are provided for a hybrid thermoplastic gel or sealant. The methods comprise providing (a) a styrenic block copolymer, (b) a Si-vinyl polymer, (c) heat, and optionally (d) an initiator, and reacting the styrenic block copolymer, Si-vinyl polymer, and optional initiator in the presence of the heat to form the hybrid thermoplastic gel. The gel composition may comprise 5-70 wt. % of a styrenic block copolymer, 60-95 wt. % of a Si-vinyl polymer, and 0-10 wt. % of an initiator. A closure or interconnect system may comprise a housing, a cable, and a hybrid thermoplastic gel made by reacting a styrenic block copolymer and a Si-vinyl polymer in the presence of heat.
