摘要: Provided is a gas-barrier film having a high barrier property when it is folded. The gas barrier film is characterized in that an organic layer comprises a resin obtained by curing a monomer as a polymerizing ingredient and the monomer has a structure of pentahydric alcohol or more polyhydric alcohol having a molecular weight of from 200 to 800 in which at least 5 hydroxyl groups are substituted with an aliphatic carbonyloxy group of the following general formula (1): wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; L represents a linking group having a chain length of at least 4 atoms; n indicates 0 or 1; provided that at least 3 hydroxyl groups of the polyhydric alcohol are substituted with the aliphatic carbonyloxy group of formula (1), when n =1.

摘要: A vinyl acylanhydrocitrate of the formula ##STR1## in which R denotes hydrogen or lower alkyl is disclosed. The vinyl acylanhydrocitrates can be prepared by initially contacting citric acid with a carboxylic anhydride or carbonyl chloride followed by transesterification of the reaction product either with vinyl acetate in the presence of a catalyst or with acetylene. The vinyl acylanhydrocitrates can be polymerized or copolymerized to form useful products useful for inclusion in adhesive compositions, for crosslinking in coating systems and duromers or, after ring opening with bases, as dispersing auxiliaries or agents to increase the viscosity of aqueous systems.

摘要: The invention relates to a process for the controlled hardening of unsaturated polyester resins at temperatures of -5.degree. C. to +150.degree. C. using an organic peroxide initiator. According to the process of the invention an organic dyestuff of the general formula (I), ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 stands for a group of the general formula (II), ##STR2## and in this formula R.sup.5 is a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group and n is an integer from 1 to 3,R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each represent a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group,R.sup.4 stands for hydrogen, orR.sup.1 and R.sup.4 form together a group of the general formula (III), ##STR3## and in this formula R.sup.6, R.sup.7 and R.sup.8 each represent hydrogen or a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group and Z stands for oxygen or sulfur atom or a -NH- group, andX stands for chlorine or bromine, is admixed with the polyester resin and/or the organic peroxide in an amount of 0.001 to 0.05% by weight, calculated for the weight of the polyester resin.Using the method of the invention the composition and homogeneity of the polyester resin/additive mixtures can be observed easily and the progress of cross-linking can be monitored visually through characteristic colors and color changes, respectively.

摘要: The disclosure relates to shape memory polymer (SMP) networks formed using acrylate-based monomers. As disclosed herein, proportional dependence between toughness and C∞ value may be broken in acrylate-based shape memory polymers comprising mono-functional acrylates which are controllably crosslinked using a crosslinker such as poly(ethylene glycol) di-methacrylate (PEGDMA) with an average molecular weight of 550 (PEGDMA 550). Through the controlled addition of a crosslinker, the relationship between the C∞ value and toughness can be manipulated (e.g., proportional relationships may be destroyed and/or reversed) in acrylate-based SMP networks.

摘要: A curable composition and a process for using the curable composition within a grating-coupled waveguide (GCW) sensor are disclosed. The composition can be used for facile replication of optical components, specifically those used in a label-independent detection system where operation of the waveguide is dependent on the detailed formation of micro and nano size patterns. The photo or electron beam curable composition has low viscosity (≦500 cPs) and cures to an optically clear material with high glass transition temperature (≧70° C.), low shrinkage on cure, low outgassing, and low extractables.
