    摘要: A compound, 3-phenyl-7-[4-(tetrahydrofurfuryloxy)phenyl]-1,5-dioxa-s-indacene-2,6-dione, which has a structure of crystals exhibiting the strongest peak at an angle of diffraction, 2&thgr;, of 4.7°, among peaks appearing within the range of not smaller than 3° of 2&thgr;, in an X-ray diffraction using a Cu-K&agr;-ray. The compound gives dyed or printed products having deep and brilliant tint of colors with excellent fastnesses, when applied to hydrophobic fiber materials, particularly, polyester fiber materials.

    摘要: This invention provides various biquinone and trimeric quinone derivatives. The invention also provides a method for synthesis of a multi-quinone compound including reacting a hydroxyquinone anion with a first quinone possessing a first directing group at a C-2 of the first quinone and a second directing group at a C-3 of the first quinone and obtaining a biquinone having one of the first and second directing groups at a C-3 of a first quinone monomer and a hydroxyl group at a C-3′ of a second quinone monomer. The biquinone can be further reacted to obtain various biquinone derivatives or with a second hydroxyquinone anion to obtain trimeric quinone derivatives, including trimeric naphthoquinone derivatives. The biquinones and trimeric quinones of this invention demonstrate antiviral activity and can be used to treat viral infections, particularly HIV infections.

    摘要: Methods are disclosed for the large-scale isolation of 98.5% pure Nimbin from Neem seeds. The ultimate product is obtained first from an alcoholic extraction with subsequent partitioning using chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents. A resulting partitioned layer, which is recovered and concentrated, is then stripped with a hydrocarbon solvent, distilled and cooled to ambient temperature. The resulting mass is mixed and washed in a second hydrocarbon solvent, after which the resulting solid is washed in methanol and treated with activated carbon to produce a crystalline, tasteless product having a melting point of approximately 210-212° C.

    摘要: Colorants comprising a chromophore having two methine moieties attached to a benzodifuranone backbone, wherein said moieties optionally have at least one poly(oxyalkylene) chain, preferably at least two such chains attached thereto are provided. Such colorants exhibit excellent thermal stability, effective colorations, excellent low extraction rates, and effective lightfastness levels, particularly when incorporated within certain media and/or on the surface of certain substrates, particularly polyesters. The optional poly(oxyalkylene) chains also increase the solubility in different solvents or resins thereby permitting the introduction of such excellent coloring chromophores within diverse media and/or on diverse substrates as well as provides a liquid colorant which facilitates handling. Compositions and articles comprising such colorants are provided as are methods for producing such inventive colorants.
