A vehicle air conditioner controls the air-conditioning automatically based on a control characteristic. The control characteristic, such as a blower voltage calculation map, is selected from plural control characteristics, or obtained by a calculation based on the personal information of the passenger or the manual operation for the air conditioner by the passenger. The control characteristic is selected or calculated as the one which is supposed to be suitable for the passenger's preference. The control characteristic can be used as a basis, or a specific characteristic for learning the passenger's preference after the control characteristic is determined.
Abstract:
A solar powered heating and ventilation system maintains an unoccupied vehicle at a more comfortable temperature relative to the outside temperature using both heating and cooling as appropriate. The system uses an air duct having a fan, heating element, vents, flaps, a selector switch, power control circuitry, a thermostat, and a clock/timer. The system also uses an electronic solar power panel and battery as power sources. The thermostat senses air temperature and causes the power control circuitry to regulate the temperature. The clock/timer may be manually set to activate and/or deactivate the power control circuitry at predetermined times. The system provides power to the fan and heating elements via a selector switch and power control circuits. The power control circuitry is connected to the vehicle battery and electronic solar power cells. The duct is located on the interior ceiling of the vehicle and has at least three vents.
Abstract:
A two piece molded roof structure is provided for enclosing the cab of a work vehicle. The roof structure has an upper roof member mounted to a lower roof member. The lower roof member has a plurality of contours and apertures for receiving the components of an HVAC system, and for defining air passages. When the upper and lower roof members are joined discrete air passages are formed between the roof members. The roof structure includes fresh and recirculated air intakes communicating via an uncirculated air duct and with an HVAC core chamber housing an HVAC core. Filters are mounted in the air intakes. One or more blowers communicate between the core chamber and a conditioned air duct which has vents communicating with the cab interior. Air is thus drawn in through the intakes and directed through the unconditioned air duct to the HVAC core and then the blower expels the air into the conditioned air duct and into the vehicle cab.

An automotive HVAC unit includes a housing defining a first outlet adapted to connect to HVAC ductwork to provide conditioned air to a first temperature zone, a second outlet adapted to connect to HVAC ductwork to provide conditioned air to a second temperature zone, a third outlet adapted to connect to HVAC ductwork to provide conditioned air to a third temperature zone, and a fourth rear outlet adapted to connect to HVAC ductwork to provide conditioned air to a fourth temperature zone within the vehicle. The HVAC unit further includes an evaporator adapted to cool air passing therethrough, a heater core adapted to heat air passing therethrough, a blower adapted to force air through the evaporator and the heater core, and a modular insert mounted within the housing and being adapted to control the flow of conditioned air to the first, second, third and fourth outlets.

An aft in flight entertainment system “IFE” which allows air to be directed to and exhausted from the IFE equipment in isolation from the cabin conditioned air. Further potential IFE generated smoke may be kept isolated from the cabin air. The aft IFE equipment is located in the rear sections of the aircraft. Valves controlling air flow are responsive to input signals. A fan draws cooling air through a video control cabinet through a duct which splits into an overhead branch and an inboard branch.

A ventilation controlling apparatus using a slide door made of a flexible film member to solve imperfect slide action attributable to film member rigidity degradation on the fringe of an aperture. The slide door is movably disposed inside a casing which forms an air passage, and the slide door is composed of the flexible film member provided with an air-circulation aperture. Ventilation of the air passage is controlled by varying an area of blending or connection between the aperture and the air passage in accordance with movement of the slide door. A rigid support member is fitted around the fringe of the aperture on the film member, thereby enhancing rigidity of the aperture fringe.

An inside/outside air switching device for a vehicle is constructed of an integrated case and a rotary door. The case has an inside port and an outside port, and a plate rib protrudes inside the case from a portion between the inside port and the outside port. The rotary door has seal members protruding toward outside from a body plate of the rotary door. A clearance is provided between a wall surface of the case and a protrusion top end of the plate rib, so that the seal members of the rotary door can be displaced from a side of the inside port to a side of the outside port through the clearance when the rotary door is assembled from the inside port into the integrated case.

An energy-saving method for operating a climate control system includes reporting an ambient outside temperature from a first temperature sensor to a controller unit and reporting a climate control air temperature from a second temperature sensor to the controller unit. The control unit performs an algorithm to define a control criterion value in response to the ambient outside temperature. A non-refrigeration cycle based heating element is activated to provide heated air to an interior surface of a windshield if the climate control air temperature is above the control criterion value. Moreover, a refrigeration cycle based cooling element and the non-refrigeration cycle based heating element are activated to provide the heated air to the interior surface of the windshield if the climate control air temperature is at or below the control criterion.

In an air conditioner including a control unit receiving a power from a switching power supply, the switching power supply is connected to a DC power source without passing through a switch device or power application device. The output of the switching power supply is connected to a capacitor via a diode. The control unit is able to operate even when the capacitor to be charged via the power application device is not charged. Accordingly, the motor-driven compressor may start to operate quickly.

Device for detecting a risk of misting of a motor-vehicle window, and installation including such a device. Measurements are taken and associated with chosen models giving access to an average temperature (on the surface) of the window, for instance the windscreen, and to a dew temperature of the air in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. A comparison between the two temperatures represents a risk of misting of the window.
