摘要： A removable traction device (10) for a tire (14) on a vehicle comprises an elongated member (12) for fitting around the tire (14) along the ground-engaging tread of the tire. The elongate member (12) has an inner surface for contact with the ground-engaging tread of the tire (14) and an outer surface which is provided with traction assistance means thereon. In one embodiment, the elongate member is elastic or stretchable in its longitudinal direction. According to another specific embodiment, the elongated member is in the form of an endless belt and is provided with a circumferentially extending rib (18) on its inner surface for forming a stretch fit around the tire (14). In another embodiment, the member (12) is provided with a plurality of openings (22) between its inner and its outer surfaces.

The boot is a band with a different tread pattern on either side, and the treads may have different tractive effects depending on which way the tread rotates relative to the ground. 摘要： A traction device surrounding the tread and sidewalls of a tire. The device includes several elongated, molded plastic traction members having fastening strips secured to opposite ends. The traction members are secured about the periphery of the tire by a flexible belt or strap extending through the fastening strips at opposite sides of the tire so that the traction members extend across the tire tread from one side of the tire to the other. The traction members have a generally planar outer face. The inner face is formed with a plurality of suction cavities surrounded by sidewalls which abut the tread surface of the tire. A plurality of relatively small apertures extends from the suction cavities outwardly and communicate with recesses formed in the planar outer face of the traction members so that as the tire rolls along a road causing the traction members to sequentially contact the road surface, the contact between the undersurface of the traction members surrounding the suction cavity walls and the tire produces a vacuum within the suction cavities. The vacuum causes the traction member to simultaneously grip the tire and the road surface until the traction member is lifted from the road surface, at which time the suction within the suction cavities is broken by the admission of air through the apertures between the suction cavities and the outer surface of the traction members.

摘要： A plastic tire chain apparatus especially adapted to permit replacement or redistribution of traction members without the need of specialized skills or tools. The tire chain apparatus comprises a plurality of plastic or rubber traction cross members, adapted to engage the tire perpendicular to the circumferential axis of the tire along the tread surface, with each cross member having an outer surface adapted to engage the road and an inner surface adapted to engage the tire tread. Each cross member has a pair of connecting members, one on either end thereof. Each connecting member is comprised of a first connecting portion having four spaced slots aligned generally parallel with the lengthwise axis of the cross member and a locking portion having a pair of parallel locking slots spaced from one another so as to be offset from the inner pair of slots of the first connecting portion. The first and second portions of the connecting member are positioned against one another so that a strap threaded therethrough will be placed in wedging engagement between the first connecting portion and the second locking portion when tension is applied to the strap.

摘要： Anti-skid assembly adapted to be removably mounted on a tire. The assembly includes a plurality of deformable transfer straps adapted to be mounted on the surface of the tire by a releasable anchoring structure. The straps are adapted to normally rest relatively flat against the surface of the tire and to be shifted to a substantially perpendicular position when the tire skids with respective road surface to increase the frictional and mechanical engagement with the road surface and to return to the normal flat configuration against the tire surface after leaving engagement with the road surface. The anchoring structure includes braided cables which are parted to accept fasteners connecting the straps to the cable. Studs can be provided on the transverse members. A quick acting latch structure is provided to hook and unhook the braided cables.
