Abstract:
In a tension device for a nonskid chain, a winding reel is supported, so that it can rotate about its axis inside the housing and is prestressed in the winding direction and has a gear rim with teeth arranged along its circumference. A tension line that can be retracted into the housing can be connected to the winding reel, such that a ratchet in a first position blocks a rotational movement of the winding reel in the tension direction by engagement of the ratchet in the teeth. Areas free of teeth on the circumference of the gear rim of the winding reel alternate with areas with teeth.
Abstract:
Revised tire chain attachments and mounting methods, for use on an otherwise typical, presently marketed link construction, ladder pattern, truck tire chain, to reduce chain slack and increase chain tension, from mounting, and increase the feasibility of one stop mounting for a broader range of tire sizes and truck loading conditions, by providing a better fit of the chain to the tire footprint, as affected by the specific tire size and truck loading.
Abstract:
A tensioning apparatus (60) for an anti-skid chain to be mounted on a vehicle wheel, a tensioning strand (7) which can be pulled into the housing is connected within the housing (61) to a winding roll (62) with a ratchet wheel (65), which winding roll is pretensioned in the winding direction and rotatable about its axis. A ratchet pawl (64) associated with the ratchet wheel can be moved to the outside under the influence of centrifugal force during wheel rotation, starting from a release position not in engagement with the ratchet wheel and the tensioning strand is not blocked, causing an engagement of the ratchet pawl in the ratchet wheel and a blocking of the tensioning strand against its tensioning direction. A magnetic holding element (68) cooperates with the ratchet pawl and counteracts deflection of the ratchet pawl from the release position during standstill or slow rotation of the wheel.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus used for tightening tire chains. One embodiment of the present invention includes an outer portion and an inner portion. The outer and inner portions have a plurality of first and second apertures, respectively. A plurality of arms are secured onto the inner portion and extend through the second aperture and then through the first apertures. The arms have a first end which is adapted to be secured onto the inner portion, and a second end which is adapted to secure to a tire chain. A bar variably couples the outer portion and the inner portion. The distance between the outer and inner portions adds or subtracts tension in the arm which correspondingly adds or subtracts tension in the tire chain.
Abstract:
An auxiliary pulling apparatus for attachment of the two ends of a flexible retaining ring of an anti skid device is disclosed. The auxiliary pulling apparatus comprise a first attachment means at its first end and a rope portion connected to the first attachment means. The auxiliary pulling apparatus is characterized by a mass which is connected to the second or outer end of its rope portion. The mass is preferably spherical in shape and rotatably connected to the rope portion. The mass maintains centrifugal forces when thrown towards the inner part of a vehicle and keeps the rope portion tight and straight. The user releases the auxiliary pulling apparatus off the anti skid device upon securing the first and second ends of the retaining ring.
Abstract:
A tightening system (135) for use with anti-skid and traction devices for wheeled vehicles comprising a sealed tightening mechanism (130) which can clutch and ratchet the rotational movement applied by the user on a knob (212). The system further comprises at least one connection assembly (134) which is adapted to be pivotably and releasably attached to a proximal end of a surface contact member (63;71) and which is adapted to be connected to the tightening mechanism. The tightening mechanism comprises a locking component (193) which has a base plate (240), an inner sidewall (195) and an outer sidewall (194) standing perpendicular to said base plate (240). The inner sidewall recessed portion has a plurality of recess (230;231) which are adapted to engage with a peripheral projection of the upper clutch (206) for holding the knob in place during locked and unlocked positions of the knob. The outer sidewall enters fully or partly, respectively in locked and unlocked positions of the knob, into a corresponding slot (210) of said knob (212) for sealing inner volume of the tightening mechanism from outside conditions.
Abstract:
A deflection device for an anti skid chain includes a chain wheel rotatably stored in a housing for the accommodation of a chain which can be inserted into the chain wheel, and an actuating element that can be moved between a locking position, in which the movement of the chain wheel is blocked in one direction, and an unlocking position in which said blocking is released, and which engages, via a locking pawl actuated by said actuating element, a toothed ring non-rotatably connected to the chain wheel, which is in the form of an internally-toothed ring of the chain wheel. The locking pawl is pivotally mounted within the interior space surrounded by the toothed ring. The locking pawl engages the toothed ring in the locking position but disengages the same in the unlocking position of the actuating element.

Abstract:
A wheel chain has a running lattice structure which is tightened by a pressure cord (8). The pressure cord (8) is connected to a lateral lattice structure arranged on the outer side of the vehicle tires by connecting members (6). Each of the connecting members has a connecting loop (10) for a member of the lateral lattice structure, and a guiding ring (9) for the pressure cord (8). In order to preserve an excess length (7) of the pressure cord (8), the cross-section of the connecting loop (10) is sufficiently large so that the connecting loop (10) provides a pull-through conduit for the excess length (7) of the pressure cord (8).
