    Abstract: A pneumatic tire includes, on a surface of a side rubber provided on sidewall portions, a two-dimensional code in which a dot pattern is formed by two types of gray scale elements distinguishable from each other by irregularities on the surface. Dot holes are formed in the two-dimensional code, corresponding to dark elements of the gray scale elements. The side rubber is a diene rubber including butadiene rubber, and when A is a blended amount of the butadiene rubber relative to 100 parts by mass of the diene rubber contained in the side rubber and when B is a blended amount of carbon, a ratio A/B and a hole depth D (mm) from an opening of the dot hole to a hole bottom satisfies a relationship of 1.1≤(A/B)/D≤6.0.

    Abstract: A method of mounting a tire on a vehicle includes providing a tire having a first side, a second side, and a circumferential tread disposed about the tire. The first side defines a first forward rotation direction that is a rotation of the tire in a counterclockwise direction when the tire is mounted on a vehicle in a first orientation and viewed from the first side. The second side defines a second forward rotation direction of the tire that is a rotation of the tire in the counterclockwise direction when the tire is mounted on the vehicle in a second orientation opposite the first orientation and viewed from the first side. The circumferential tread includes a plurality of tread elements. At least one of the tread elements includes a sipe arrangement that causes the tire to exhibit a first tire performance when the tire is mounted on the vehicle in the first orientation and rotated in the first forward rotation direction. The sipe arrangement causes the tire to exhibit a second tire performance that is different from the first tire performance when the tire is mounted on the vehicle in the second orientation and rotated in the second forward rotation direction. The method further includes mounting the tire on the vehicle in the first orientation for driving the vehicle in a first set of conditions, and mounting the tire on the vehicle in the second orientation for driving the vehicle in a second set of conditions.

    Abstract: A pneumatic tire can include a tread portion, a pair of sidewall portions, a pair of bead portions, and a carcass. At least one of the sidewall portions can include a first sidewall rubber. The first sidewall rubber can include a base rubber layer, a different color rubber layer, and a barrier rubber layer. The base rubber layer can be in contact with the carcass. At least a part of the different color rubber layer can be exposed in the outer surface of the at least one of the sidewall portions. The barrier rubber layer can be arranged between the different color rubber layer and the base rubber layer. The barrier rubber layer can have a rubber compounding to suppress migration of rubber compounding agents on the base rubber layer side to the different color rubber layer. The barrier rubber layer can have a thickness of 1.0 mm or less.
