    Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for drivetrain of a vehicle. In one example, the drivetrain includes an axle shaft with a radial nub and a shaft guide surrounding the axle shaft. The shaft guide may have an inner radial groove configured to have an interference fit with the radial nub. When the axle shaft is axially translated along an axial direction to engage the radial nub with the inner radial groove of the shaft guide, the axle shaft may be disconnected from a wheel hub of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicle axle assembly including an axle housing, carrier assembly, and first and second axle shafts. The axle housing is formed from an upper beam and a lower beam that are positioned in a clam-shell arrangement. The carrier assembly includes a carrier housing and a differential that includes a ring gear arranged in meshing engagement with a pinion. The first and second axle shafts extend outwardly from the differential in opposite directions. The pinion is rotatably supported by a self-lubricating cartridge pinion input bearing and the outboard ends of the first and second axle shafts are rotatably supported by self-lubricating and unitized grease wheel end bearings. These bearings do not require lubrication from oil contained inside the axle housing allowing for a reduced oil fill level in the axle housing, creating less viscous losses and better efficiency.

    Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the present disclosure, a wheel end apparatus for a vehicle is provided that includes a wheel hub assembly configured to be mounted to a spindle and a wheel hub of the wheel hub assembly. The wheel end apparatus includes a coil of wire and at least one magnet of the wheel hub assembly configured to move relative to one another with rotation of the wheel hub around the spindle. The wheel end apparatus includes a wheel end device operably coupled to the coil of wire to receive electrical power generated by relative movement of the coil of wire and the at least one magnet. Further, the wheel end apparatus includes communication circuitry operably coupled to the wheel end device and configured to wirelessly communicate wheel end device information with a wheel end monitoring device.
