Abstract: The present invention is a method for manufacturing a golf ball including a core, at least one intermediate layer, and a cover, the core being formed of a rubber material, the intermediate layer being formed of a resin composition, and the cover being formed of a urethane resin material, the method including: a step (1) of forming an intermediate layer-encased sphere by encasing the core with the at least one intermediate layer; a step (2) of subjecting the intermediate layer-encased sphere to a heat treatment at a temperature of at least a melting point of a base resin of the resin composition of the intermediate layer and less than 160° C.; and a step (3) of thereafter forming a cover-encased sphere by encasing the intermediate layer- encased sphere with the cover.

Abstract: A method of forming a pickleball in an additive manufacturing system includes selecting one of a polymer or liquid resin material from which the pickleball is to be additively manufactured. A computer file is provided containing computer readable instructions for the automated additive manufacturing of a computer generated model of the pickleball, the instructions including a definition of the geometric shape of the pickleball divided into a plurality of successively layered cross sectional slices. A 3D printer executes the instructions to initiate an automated additive manufacturing of a physical pickleball from the selected polymer, corresponding to the design of the computer generated model. The 3D printer creates solid cross sections of the pickleball in the selected material that are progressively and integrally bonded together and correspond to the successively layered cross sectional slices of the pickleball design, to form a complete pickleball.

Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a golf ball providing improve play characteristics. The disclosed golf ball includes an outer cover comprising a plurality of divots. The disclosed golf ball further includes a central core comprising one or more lightweight materials, such as aerogel. The combination of the lightweight core and the unique divots enable the golf ball to go farther and straighter when hit by the golfer, thereby providing increased performance.

Abstract: A golf ball has a large number of exposed portions 22 on a surface thereof. An average value Hav of heights H of these exposed portions 22 is not less than 0.5 μm and not greater than 50 μm. The surface of the golf ball has one or more first zones and one or more second zones. An average value Hav1 of the heights H of the exposed portions 22 on these first zones is higher than an average value Hav2 of the heights H of the exposed portions 22 on these second zones. Preferably, the average value Hav1 and the average value Hav2 satisfy the following mathematical formula. 3≤(Hav1−Hav2)≤50
