    摘要: A method and an assembly for practicing that method wherein an article is molded of a heat-fusing material or plastisol in a mold having first and second groups of liquid passages disposed adjacent the mold surface for controlling the temperature over respective first and second areas of the mold surface. The mold is supported for rotation about an axis by a stationary pedestal. A movable module supports plastisol storage tanks, heat exchangers, valves, conduits, etc., for supplying the plastisol to the mold. The movable module also supports a dump tank which is disposed beneath the mold for receiving and retrieving the liquid plastisol which is emptied or dumped from the mold when it is rotated to an inverted position. There is included first and second liquid circuits including a pump and heat exchanger for supplying liquid at different temperatures to the passages associated with the mold. All of the passages are supplied with heated liquid to maintain the temperature of the first and second areas of the mold surface at a non-gelling temperature and a liquid plastisol coating is applied to the mold surface.

    摘要: A unitary, three-dimensional flexible shell of plasticized polyvinyl chloride of substantially uniform thickness. The shell is produced by spraying a thin layer of a polyvinyl chloride plastigel comprising a dispersion of polyvinyl chloride in a plasticizer onto the surface of a three-dimensional mold corresponding to the outer face of the shell while the mold surface is maintained between room temperature and 100.degree. C. The plastigel during use has a viscosity of 20,000 to 50,000 cps and at least 110,000 cps after 48 hours rest and contains no particles which are sedimentable at these viscosity levels. The layer of polyvinyl chloride is then heated in order to gel the layer.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for making miniature doll heads. An oversized head is formed of a shrinkable plastisol including a plasticizer, and facial features are applied to the head using a shrinkable paint. Hair is rooted to the scalp of the oversized head. The head is reduced in size by extracting the plasticizer from the plastisol. During the extraction, the head and its facial features shrink simultaneously to form the miniature head.

    摘要: A flow control device such as a valve, damper and the like for controlling flow through a duct or other flow passage and including a relatively rigid main body portion composed primarily of a first organic resin material and a sealing portion bonded to the main body portion and composed of an elastomeric material including a second organic resin. The bond between the sealing portion and main body portion is increased by mixing some of the second organic resin material with the first organic resin material. Mounting means in the form of a pivot rod is molded to the main body portion for pivotally supporting the device in a duct or the like. The device can be made by a method including steps of mixing the second organic resin in powdered form into a quantity of the first organic resin in liquid form and then pouring the mixture into a portion of a mold defining the configuration of the main body portion. Elastomeric material for the sealing portion is poured into the mold in liquid form and covers the surface of the mixture of the first organic resin and the powdered form of the second organic resin. The contents of the mold is then cured.

    摘要: A method of making a vane for a butterfly valve or the like wherein the vane has a relatively rigid main body portion and a resilient sealing portion on the periphery of the body portion. A movable mold member is heated to a temperature at or above the temperature required to cause liquid elastomeric material to become solid upon contact therewith. The heated mold member is placed into the cavity of a mold having an edge surface which defines the outer periphery of a first mold portion with the periphery of the heated mold member spaced from the edge surface thereby defining the inner periphery of the first mold portion, the first mold portion having a configuration corresponding to the configuration of the sealing portion. Liquid elastomeric material is poured into the first mold portion and is partially cured until it becomes non-liquid and hence non-flowable. The heated mold member is removed to form a second cavity in the mold which is surrounded by the partially cured elastomeric material. Liquid thermosetting plastic material is poured into the second cavity of the mold such that it flows in contact with the inner periphery of the elastomeric material. A pivot rod may be placed on the mold in such a manner that the rod extends transversely of the mold and a portion of the rod is immersed in the liquid thermosetting plastic material. The mold with the partially cured elastomeric material, liquid thermosetting plastic material, and pivot rod therein is then exposed to curing temperature to solidify the thermosetting plastic material with the pivot rod embedded therein, and to complete curing of the elastomeric material.

    摘要: Method for making a doll's head, for use in conjunction with a suitable torso, which will excrete a fluid through the brow portion of the head for simulating perspiration, and a method for making the same. The doll head includes an exterior surface formed and contoured with human characteristics and including an interior cavity or reservoir for storing fluid. The head is formed of flexible plastic having a slit at the mouth providing a valve for filling the interior reservoir and a plurality of small measured holes or pores in the brow or forehead which permit the fluid to flow outwardly therethrough. The method includes the steps of heating a mold containing heat curable plastic and slush molding the plastic to attain the interior shape of the mold. The mold comprises an outer head forming shell which is open at the neck for the insertion of plastic thereinto, and a cap which closes the neck and has a plug portion extending into the shell to form the interior reservoir of the head between the shell and the plug portion.
