Abstract:
A cylindrical hollow blank 1 is separated longitudinally from inside an elongate block of wood by axial boring, the blank is dried and its outer and inner surfaces finished, eg by milling, turning and sanding, and a bottom piece (2, FIG. 2) and, if required, a lid (3, FIG. 2) are then added to form a container. A plurality of cylindrical blanks of different diameters may be produced from a single block. Two concentric core bits of different diameters may be used to bore a blank.
Abstract:
Material-recovery apparatus for obtaining usable, uniformly-dimensioned blanks from scrap. Apparatus is small, and economical in manufacture and operation, using only a single lifting jack and vertical support unit to support the tool-and-feed-roller housing. Feed-roller tensioning units for exerting downward force on rollers have a spring-biased bell-crank mechanism.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a planing machine that can plane and shape a workpiece to replicate a hand-hewn log for use in siding, paneling and other similar type building needs.
Abstract:
A wood planing machine includes a base, two opposite side walls extending upright from the base, two pairs of supporting rods extending upright from the opposite sides of the base, a cutter carriage mounted movably on the supporting rods, a motor mounted on the cutter carriage, a rotatable shaft connected to and driven by the motor and having one end that extends through a vertically extending slot in one of the side walls, and an emery wheel mounted on the end of the shaft.
Abstract:
A method for processing of workpieces, which are supplied to a processing station, in which the workpieces are processed on one side, are moved out of the processing station, and are turned and again supplied to the processing station for processing the second side. In particular, a workpiece or workpiece package is individually supplied to the processing station, is processed there and individually moved on following the processing of both sides. The first side of one workpiece, whose second side has not yet been processed, and the second side of another workpiece whose first side had already been processed in the previous processing operation, are processed in one processing operation in the processing station, so that during each processing operation a workpiece processed on both sides is created together with a workpiece processed only on one side.
Abstract:
An apparatus for making pallets includes an automatic stringer feeding system; an automatic stringer advancing system; a pallet assembly station; a nail delivery system; and a pallet stacking system. Wood stringers are automatically fed to a series of hoppers which facilitate advancing the stringers into the pallet assembly station. Spaced apart deck boards are nailed, via a gantry movable along a longitudinally extending frame on generally parallel spaced apart linear guide bearings, to both sides of the supporting base of transversely positioned stringers in the pallet assembly station. Multiple nailing stations in adjacent spaced relationship include a pneumatically driven double ram for nailing together stringers and overlying deck boards positioned within the pallet assembly station. The hopper loading system includes a first conveying system for conveying a layer of stringers from a stacked array in adjacent substantially horizontal relation along a first direction, and a second conveying system for conveying stringers in adjacent substantially horizontal relation to each hopper along a second direction substantially transverse to the first direction. A rare earth magnetic chuck is provided for holding a nail in position for nailing by the pneumatically driven ram. A method of making pallets includes conveying a plurality of elongated stringers in adjacent substantially horizontal relation along a first direction, and conveying the elongated stringers in adjacent substantially horizontal relation along a second direction to a hopper. The second direction may be substantially transverse to the first direction.
Abstract:
An apparatus for automatically cutting a drawer slide groove and drilling a drawer-securing pin hole in a drawer with a bottom with a number of edges extending downwardly from the bottom, and a rear wall. The apparatus includes a support, the drawer resting on the support during the cutting and drilling operations; a power saw having a moving blade adapted for cutting a groove in the drawer; a first guide mounted on the support and adapted to engage one of the plurality of downwardly extending drawer edges, thereby positioning the saw blade adjacent the downwardly extending drawer edge; a drill carrier movable in a first direction and a second direction relative to the support; and a power drill mounted in the drill carrier and having a drill bit adapted to drill a drawer-securing pin hole in the rear wall of the drawer.
Abstract:
A multi-purpose farm apparatus capable of being easily transported and which can be used to perform a variety of tasks. The multi-purpose farm apparatus comprises a trailer, a combination baler and wood splitter and a hydraulic system mounted thereon. The combination baler and log splitter apparatus includes a baling portion having a baling chamber and a first gib assembly comprising a pressure platen and is mounted for reciprocal movement within said baling chamber. The combination baler and log splitter apparatus further includes a log splitting portion having a second gib assembly comprising a splitting wedge and is mounted to said trailer for reciprocal movement. The first gib assembly and the second gib assembly are mechanically coupled to the hydraulic system for effecting reciprocating movement of the first gib assembly and the second gib assembly. The hydraulic system further comprises a hydraulic motor for driving various farm machinery.
Abstract:
Apparatus for producing rectangular furniture boards with a glued-on edge, in which the following are arranged one after another in the passage direction: a longitudinal sawing device (14), which divides a rectangular initial board (12) into a plurality of parallel longitudinal boards (12a, 12b, 12c, 12d), a longitudinal gluing device (31), which in each case glues a longitudinal edge onto both longitudinal sides of a longitudinal board (12a) passing through and machines the edge, a transverse sawing device (38), which divides a longitudinal board (12a) transversely with respect to its longitudinal direction into furniture boards (39) with a predetermined size, a transverse gluing device (40), which in each case glues a transverse edge onto both transverse sides of a furniture board (39) passing through and machines this edge.
Abstract:
