Abstract:
A turning and thread-rolling machine with a pre-compression device includes a fixing base on which the pre-compression device, a fixing mechanism, a guiding base, a processing mechanism assembly, and a control unit are provided, wherein the pre-compression device includes a carrier and at least two cold-rolling heads in order to form by compression a pre-compressed annular groove in a portion of an unprocessed rebar that is adjacent to one end thereof, and, under the control of the control unit, the fixing mechanism clamps the rebar, and the guiding base displaces the processing mechanism assembly to the end of the rebar to perform turning and thread rolling sequentially, thereby processing the end of the rebar into a coupling end. The pre-compressed annular groove facilitates on-site inspection of thread quality and prevents the thread-rolling dies in the processing mechanism assembly from contact with, and hence damage by, the ribs on the rebar.
Abstract:
Pipe, bar stock, or other tubular member handling apparatus according to this invention includes means for elevating a section of pipe from a horizontal pipe rack, moving the pipe linearly into operative relation with a machine that rotates the pipe and does work such as machining threads at the end of the pipe, supporting the pipe for rotation during machining operations, moving the pipe linearly in the opposite direction after machining operations have been completed and then lowering the pipe back onto the pipe rack. The machine incorporates operation and control circuitry correlating certain pipe control movements and facilitating pipe handling with minimum control selection by operating personnel and minimizing handling time. An adjustable, limit switch-controlled electrohydraulic control circuit enables utilization of the machine for pipes of different size and further enables simple and efficient positioning of the center line of the pipe in colinear relation with the center line of the pipe handling machine.
Abstract:
A nut tapper comprises a pusher for pushing blanks onto a rotating tap. The pusher is urged towards the tap by a pneumatic piston and cylinder unit and the speed of approach of the pusher towards the tap is limited by a cam and follower mechanism. The pressure in the piston and cylinder unit can be adjusted to vary the force exerted on a blank by the pusher. The piston and cylinder unit and the cam and follower mechanism are disposed together below the pusher and tap.
Abstract:
Improved apparatus and process for applying locking patches of resilient resin to internally threaded articles such as nuts having openings at both ends of the threaded portions in which apparatus and process, a support and treating member, preferably a rotatable, circular table with edge notches complementary to a portion of the exterior of a threaded article to be treated, receives a succession of threaded articles heated to a temperature above the melting point of the resin to be applied and moves the articles along a path for treatment with the axes of the threaded articles in an up and down position and with the openings at the upper and lower ends of the threaded portions substantially uncovered, conduits on the support and treating member are associated with each threaded article to direct particles of heat fusible resin upwardly through the opening at the lower end of the article against a portion of the threaded surface of the article to form a first deposit of resin on an area of the threaded surface during movement along a first portion of the treatment path and a turning device at an intermediate location on the treatment path turns each threaded article, as it reaches that location, a predetermined angle so that the conduit associated with the article directs resin against a further area of the threaded surface to form a second deposit of resin during movement along a further portion of the treatment path. The temperature of the article, the rate of movement along the treatment path, the supply of the resin particles, the location of the turning device, and the turning angle may be correlated so that thin edge portions of the first resin deposit may be spaced from or may be overlapped by thin edge portions of the second resin deposit up to an extent that the total thickness of resin in the overlapped portions may approximate the thickness of the central portions of the first and second deposits of resin.
Abstract:
A device for feeding wire stock of fixed length to a cutoff tool in a linear and continuous manner by means of the reciprocating motion of a wire cutting mechanism driven by an eccentric shaft being utilized to sever and sequentially feed the cutoff wire stock one at a time to a die head.
Abstract:
A device for cutting threads on a workpiece such as a pipe, and especially conical threads such as pipe threads, in which a chuck housing is nonrotatably but axially moveably connected to a cutter housing. A workpiece is inserted in the chuck housing with the end of the workpiece engaging cutters in the cutter housing and is clamped in the chuck housing. A drive drives the cutters in rotation thereby forming a thread on the workpiece while drawing the workpiece through the cutters and a drive mechanism is actuated by the movement of the workpiece and chuck housing toward the cutter housing for causing gradual retraction of the cutters during a cutting operation. At the end of the cutting operation, the cutters retract outwardly and the workpiece can then be removed and the parts of the device restored to the original position thereof preparatory to another cutting operation.
Abstract:
A machine having a frame and a modular stack of interchangeable rotary dials mounted on the frame for carrying headed work blanks of varying shank length and diameter, fluid actuated head and shank pusher assemblies effecting compressive engagement of the work blanks against the dials when each work blank is positioned in power operated die means for a pointing operation, and a fluid circuit including adjustable air spring means providing a continuous fluid bias for actuating the head pusher and shank pusher assemblies.
Abstract:
AN AUTOMATIC SCREW MACHINE WITH A PULLEY-DRIVEN COLLET AND SPINDLE ASSEMBLY FOR RECIPROCALLY MOVING PARTS INTO AND OUT OF CONTACT WITH BORING TOOLS. THE ASSEMBLY HAS TWO REARWARDLY EXTENDING RODS WHICH FIT SLIABLY WITHIN RECEPTIVE OPENINGS IN A DRIVE PULLEY TO PERMIT ITS AXIAL RECIPROCATION WHILE BEING DRIVEN BY THE PULLEY. THE ASSEMBLY ALSO HAS APAIR OF CHUCKLING LEVES MOUNTED TO PIVOT ABOUT ONE END, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A TIMING CAM, AND EXERT CAM-LIKE COLLET OPENING AND CLOSING PRESSURES ON A RESPONSIVE MEMBER. THE MACHINE HAS AN INDEX ROD AND AN INDEX PLATE WITH RECEPTIVE HOLES FOR THE ROD. THE PLATE IS AFFIXED TO A CAM-CONTROLLED SHAFT TO WHICH A TOOL HOLDER IS ALSO AFFIXED. WHEN THE INDEX ROD IS MOVED INTO ONE OF THE HOLES IN THE PLATE, A PART HELD BY THE COLLET AND SPINDLE ASSEMBLY IS GUIDED TO A PARTICULAR TOOL ON THE TOOL HOLDER.
Abstract:
The invention makes available a device for damping the vibrations of a spindle of a machine tool, which spindle rotates about an axis of rotation, which device has a central longitudinal axis that is oriented coaxial to the axis of rotation of the spindle during use, and a housing that is provided for torque-proof coupling to the spindle and delimits a housing space that is configured as a ring space oriented coaxial to the central longitudinal axis and surrounds the central longitudinal axis, a ring-shaped damper mass that is arranged to move in the housing space relative to the central longitudinal axis and oriented coaxial to the central longitudinal axis in the rest state, and includes at least one spring element, by way of which the damper mass is movably held on the housing, with elastic resilience, with reference to the central longitudinal axis of the device, at least in the circumference direction of the damper mass. In that in the case of such a device, according to the invention, a gap is present between a circumference surface of the damper mass and an inner surface of the housing, which gap is filled with a viscous damper fluid, and in that, according to the invention, the clear width of the gap filled with the viscous fluid is adjustable, the damping effect can be adapted to the corresponding requirements in a simple manner.
