Abstract:
A machine and its associated process for upset forging the ends of deformed reinforcement bars are disclosed. The machine includes 2 split clamping dies and an upsetting die, and they are housed in separate casings so that the clamping action is independent from the upsetting die. The clamping dies and the upsetting die form a continuous cavity for accommodating the forging of long bars. The upsetting die has a upsetting cavity with radial closed cross-section, and the whole forging process is performed inside this closed cavity to ensure it's a true closed-die forging process, which results in precise upset diameter with improved roundness of the rebar.

Abstract:
A method and a plant for manufacturing fasteners, in particular screws, along an automated production line; the method comprising the following steps: feeding the raw material made of titanium; heating the raw material to a predefined temperature; cutting one or more pieces of a predefined length, in succession, from the heated raw material; deforming plastically each piece by means of one or more finishing stations, so as to obtain a fastener; heating, during the deforming step, the material that passes through each workstation to a predefined temperature; wherein the material manipulated along the production line during the feeding, heating, and deforming steps is automatically transported along the production line.
Abstract:
A bolt includes a head portion on which a recess is formed. The recess has a bottom surface and a sidewall extending from a periphery of the bottom surface. The sidewall has a lower end defined by the bottom surface and includes an increased diameter portion and a reduced diameter portion. The increased diameter portion has an inner diameter larger than an inner diameter of the lower end of the side wall. The reduced diameter portion has an inner diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the increased diameter portion. The reduced diameter portion is located opposite to the bottom surface across the increased diameter portion.
Abstract:
A multistage press for the bulk deformation of a piece of wire includes a wire feed with associated apparatus for cutting to length, and a transfer device—having grippers—for receiving a piece of wire that has been cut to length and transferring the latter to subsequent forming stages, there being arranged, on that side of the cutting-to-length apparatus opposite from the wire feed, a device for partially heating a length of wire. A method produces a formed part with a multistage press of this type.
Abstract:
An electric discharge machining electrode is shaped to form a die for roll forming a dual threaded screw. The electrode is oriented with a face thereof adjacent to a forming surface of the die and placed within an electric discharge machine to cause electric discharge via the electrode to the forming surface of the die, to shape the die to have the geometry required for roll forming of the dual threaded screw. The EDM electrode face has a plurality of troughs and tips substantially matching coarse threads of the screw. Grooves are formed in the tips. The grooves are angled relative the tips and have a geometry substantially matching the fine threads of the screw. The face of the electrode has a form which shapes the forming surface of the die so that the die can roll form the dual threaded screw.
Abstract:
A method of and device for manufacturing a hollow anchor with a radial, helical contour on its outer surface is provided. The contour is preferably a raised external contour or helix that is formed on the outer wall of the anchor and is suitable for tapping a thread in masonry. The hollow anchor formed by the method has an internal cavity that can receive another member and an outer surface with a raised external contour that is suitable for tapping a thread in a blind bore in a masonry member.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a tap (10) adapted for formation of female screw-threads in a plurality of metal parts. Each female screw-thread is capable of imparting translational motion to a threaded second member engaged therewith, the threaded second member having a matching male screw-thread and the translational motion occurring on relative rotation between the first metal part and the threaded second member. The tap (10) is fluteless and comprises a threaded portion (23) with a triangular form thread (11) with an angle of thread (gamma) in the range 29°-40° and radiussed crests (16). The present invention also relates to a method of using such a tap.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming a slot in a semi-product of a bolt prior to thread formation includes a punch and a die mechanism. The die mechanism includes a tubular member, and an elongated die member formed integrally with a slot-forming plate which is located at a front end portion thereof and which has a uniform-thickness flat middle portion and two side portions that are wider than the middle portion. The semi-product can be compressed between the punch and the slot-forming plate of the die member in a central bore in a high-hardness block, which is fixed in the tubular member, to form the slot. Accordingly, the slot has a uniform-width middle portion and two end portions which are wider than the uniform-width middle portion. When threads are formed on the semi-product by means of a lathe, no projections are created in the uniform-width middle portion of the slot, thereby permitting a wedge-shaped end of a screwdriver to engage fittingly the uniform-width middle portion of the slot.
Abstract:
A fastener has a head and a shank with two ends. One of the ends includes the head while the other includes a pilot point. Also, the shank includes a threaded portion adjacent to the pilot point. A pair of recesses are formed 180.degree. from one another on the point and threaded portion. The recesses extend from the end of the point through at least a first full thread.
