摘要: The present invention concerns a method and a device for separating and extracting fractions in a material flow of a material consisting of particles of different fractions. The device comprises a closed conduit (7) with an inlet end and an outlet end through which the material is transported. A separation chamber (17) is mounted between the inlet end and the outlet end. The separation chamber comprises at least one fluidisation element (13) at the base of the chamber and an extraction device (9) located in the upper part of the chamber. In use the present invention has proved to be particularly well suited to continuous separation of dust from a fluidisable mass where there is a need for high capacity.

摘要: A method using a single pass sequencer having a transport system for transporting the mail pieces to a transport system having a first carriage system and a second carriage system with a plurality of holders slidable between the first carriage system and the second carriage system with packaged output. Each of the plurality of holders holding a mail piece of the mail pieces received from the transport system. The method includes assigning a code to: (i) the mail pieces based on the destination information, (ii) the plurality of holders on the first carriage, and (iii) a position on the second carriage which corresponds to the initial sequence and a destination sequence of the mail pieces. The method instructs movement of the plurality of holders from the first carriage to the second carriage based on the code assigned to the mail pieces, the plurality of holders on the first carriage and the position on the second carriage such that when the mail pieces are moved to the second carriage they are in sequential order of delivery destination, ready to be packaged.

摘要: A process is provided for sorting mail pieces, especially manual mail, received at a postal processing and distribution center having associated mail delivery zones with associated postal delivery codes such as zip codes. Each delivery zone has one or more associated postal carriers which deliver mail to destination points within that zone. The delivery codes identify which zone and which carrier within the zone the mail piece should be delivered to. The process includes the steps of (a) receiving at a center mail for sorting; (b) sorting received mail that is addressed to delivery points in zones associated with that center to at least carrier level using a postal sorting machine having a number of pockets that receive sorted mail, resulting in sorted mail for zones associated with that center organized into batches by zone and by carrier; (c) sorting out received mail that is addressed to delivery points in zones not associated with that center for delivery to other centers; and (d) forwarding the sorted mail from step (b) to respective postal delivery units at which each carrier included in the sort of step (b) receives mail for delivery. Such a process eliminates at least one manual sorting step from current USPS processes for handling manual mail.

摘要: An opposed pair of inwardly facing radiant energy detecting sensors (20, 22) is positioned to sight on freshly formed glass containers (C) being conveyed on a side by side pair of conveyors (12, 14) to determine if any of the containers is misoriented from its desired orientation. Each sensor has a sharply focused fiber and lens assembly (24) that is focused to sense radiant energy in a cone of view no greater than 1null. A baffle (32) is positioned between the conveyors and in alignment with the opposed sensors, to isolate the sensors from radiant energy emitted by containers on the away conveyor.

摘要: A system for sorting randomly positioned, irregularly shaped scrap metal particles on a moving conveyor employs laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), and includes an image detector for locating the particles as they path through a predefined viewing area, a position detector for detecting movement of the conveyor, a laser system for providing laser pulses, a scanner assembly for directing the pulses to selected locations within a target area, a light collector, a light distribution and spectral analyzer for isolating and measuring at least one selected band from the collected light, a separator, and suitable logic for identifying the particles, monitoring their position, monitoring the output of the laser and, operating the scanner assembly to direct the pulses to the identified particle. The spectral data is then analyzed, each particle is categorized, and thereafter sorted.

摘要: A mail processing machine comprises a first holding location that is adapted to hold a stack of first pages. A card is coupled to each of the first pages, and each first page includes an identifier. A second holding location is adapted to hold a stack of second pages that each have an identifier. A first advancing mechanism is adapted to separately advance each first page from the stack, and a second advancing mechanism is adapted to separately advance each second page from the stack. First and second scanning devices read the identifiers on the first and second pages upon their advancement. A controller is configured to control the first and second advancing mechanism to permit the first and second pages to be scanned by the first and second scanners and to match the first pages with the second pages if the identifier on one of the advanced first pages corresponds with the identifier on one of the advanced second pages.

摘要: A method and apparatus for handling physical communications. A physical communication, such as a letter or a package is received and sorted. The sorting includes assigning one or more of a plurality of predetermined values to each of one or more of a plurality of predetermined characteristics relating to the physical communication. A handling procedure, including one or more handling steps is selected for the communication based on the values assigned in said assigning step and rules correlating the values to a handling procedure. The handling procedure can be modified based on destination specific rules.

摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus for processing a sheet. When a medium having various patterns detected by a plurality of detecting sections for individually detecting plural kinds of features from a sheet, each detecting section detects plural kinds of features from the medium. The features detected from the medium are compared with a predetermined reference value so that the condition of the apparatus can be judged.
