Abstract:
An injector for controlling fluids has a piezoelectric actuator and a hydraulic pressure intensifier. The hydraulic pressure intensifier is composed of a first piston, a second piston and a pressure chamber filled with fluid and situated between the two pistons. In addition, a control valve and a priming device are provided to replace the fluid loss in the pressure chamber caused by leakage. The priming device has a priming chamber filled with fluid, and leakage losses in the pressure chamber are replaced by fluid from the priming chamber during a return movement of the hydraulic pressure intensifier as a result of a displacement effect in the priming chamber created directly or indirectly by the first piston.
Abstract:
A fuel injection valve has a valve body and a valve member axially movable within the valve body. The opening stroke of the valve member is limited by a stroke stop face provided on a control piston which surrounds the valve member. A control chamber, which may be filled with fuel, is located at one end of the control piston. At a certain pressure in the control chamber, the control piston moves from a first to a second stroke position to limit the opening stroke motion of the valve member. Part of the control piston is embodied as a piezoelectric actuator which, when supplied with electric current, changes its axial length to further vary the stroke of the valve member.
Abstract:
Valve for the periodic and cyclic or otherwise intermittent release of a fluid is described along with an irrigation sprinkler incorporating the valve. The valve opens when a critical pressure level is reached in a reservoir attached to the valve, thereby permitting a portion of the fluid contained within the reservoir to be released through the valve. As the fluid is released, the pressure in the reservoir decreases. The valve does not close until the pressure level in the reservoir reaches a second pressure level that is below the critical pressure level. When the reservoir is refilled from a pressurized source at a controlled rate that is less the rate at which the fluid is expelled through the valve when open, the valve will cycle repetitively.
Abstract:
This invention is to improve the reproducibility and yield in separating a bonded substrate stack. A bonded substrate stack having a porous layer inside is held by substrate holding portions 105 and 106, and a fluid is injected from a nozzle to the porous layer of the bonded substrate stack, thereby separating the bonded substrate stack at the porous layer. The variation in pressure of the fluid is suppressed within a predetermined range by a servo-driven pump.

A multi-layer slot coating die (A) includes a housing (30) having a cavity therein, and a divider (32) arranged within the cavity of the housing (30) such that a plurality of separate channels are defined therein. The channels have elongated openings on an output side of the die (A) from which layers (10, 12) of coating material are extruded, and an ultrasonic transducer (44) is mechanically coupled to the divider (32).
Abstract:
A fuel injector (1), especially an injector for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines (51), has a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive actuator (14), a valve-closure member (8) that is actuated by an actuator (14) using a valve needle (9), the valve-closure member cooperating with a valve seat surface (7) to form a sealing seat, and having at least one spray-discharge opening (10, 11) that is sealed by the sealing seat. In this context, the valve seat surface (7) and/or the valve-closure member (8) has partial areas (30a, 30b) that are arranged so as to be offset on the circumference, the partial areas throttling a fuel flow to differing extents as a function of a stroke of the valve needle (9).
Abstract:
A fuel injector, especially an injector valve for fuel injection equipment in internal combustion engines, includes a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive actuator and a valve closing body, operable by an actuator with the aid of a valve needle, which cooperates with a valve seat surface to form a sealing seat, and a valve housing. The actuator is prestressed by a compression spring and, together with this, is surrounded by an actuator housing which is supported by fluid at both its ends.
Abstract:
A container for containing a liquid that has suspended particles used for depositing on a substrate is formed of an electrically conductive material, and has a bottom wall. An atomizer for atomizing the liquid and particles to form an aerosol is mounted at an upper end thereof. A bottom wall of the container has a piezoelectric ultrasonic transducer attached to the wall. A high voltage connection to the piezoelectric transducer is in a recess formed by a lower skirt on the container and is mounted in an insulating block in the recess. A cup shaped insulating sleeve slips over the lower portions of the container and shields the high voltage connection from the exterior.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic apparatus and a method for injecting a pressurized liquid fuel by applying ultrasonic energy to a portion of the pressurized liquid fuel. The apparatus includes a die housing which defines a chamber adapted to receive a pressurized liquid and a means for applying ultrasonic energy to a portion of the pressurized liquid. The die housing further includes an inlet adapted to supply the chamber with the pressurized liquid, and an exit orifice defined by the walls of a die tip. The exit orifice is adapted to receive the pressurized liquid from the chamber and pass the liquid out of the die housing. When the means for applying ultrasonic energy is excited, it applies ultrasonic energy to the pressurized liquid without applying ultrasonic energy to the die tip. The method involves supplying a pressurized liquid to the foregoing apparatus, applying ultrasonic energy to the pressurized liquid but not the die tip while the exit orifice receives pressurized liquid from the chamber, and passing the pressurized liquid out of the exit orifice in the die tip.
Abstract:
An injector having a multilayer piezoelectric actuator for injection systems, in particular for common rail diesel injection systems, of motor vehicles, in which the body of the piezoelectric actuator has a square or rectangular cross-sectional contour and is seated, together with a two-legged prestressing bracket that is mounted along opposed outer sides of the actuator body, inside a longitudinal bore of the injector body. The longitudinal bore has a polygonal cross-sectional shape with rounded corners, the shape is adapted to the cross-sectional contour of the actuator body and the prestressing bracket, so that outside the longitudinal bore, space is created in the injector body for a high-pressure bore located parallel to the longitudinal bore of the injector.
