Abstract: A filtering system for filtering air is provided, which contains a filter and an electrode assembly downstream of the filter that contains an electrode and a counter electrode for an ionizer, between which there is a voltage for generating a corona discharge when in operation. An improved and lasting filtering effect is obtained in that the counter electrode is connected electrically to the filter in the reactivation mode. An air conditioner and a vehicle that has such a filtering system.

Abstract: A high shock environment resistant electronic air purification system positioned within a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a public transit vehicle effective to remove particulate pollutants therefrom. The air purification system comprises a central power box affixed to at least the interior surface of the public transit vehicle and at least one ion emitter positioned remotely from the central power box. The at least one ion emitter is configured to disperse ions into the interior space of the public transit vehicle affixed at least one interior surface of at least at one of in a return air plenum, at an entrance to an evaporator blower motor, or within a passenger air duct of the HVAC system of the public transit vehicle without blocking or substantially restricting an airflow of the HVAC system.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for capturing particle emissions from a tire of a vehicle. The system includes a triboelectric generator configured to generate an electric current. The system includes a capture surface configured to have an electric field. The system includes a first electrical connecting line connecting the triboelectric generator to the capture surface. The first electrical connecting line is configured to pass to the capture surface the electric current generated via the triboelectric generator. The passed electric current is used by the capture surface to generate the electric field. The system includes a set of filters attached to the capture surface. A computer program product is also provided which may cause a computer system to adjust a supplementary power flow to the capture surface based on a control signal that is received.

Abstract: An air cleaner includes: a generation unit configured to discharge an electric current by being applied with a high voltage, and generate a plurality of types of discharge products; an air-sending device configured to form a flow of air, and spray the plurality of types of discharge products generated from the generation unit to a space; an estimation unit configured to estimate an amount of dust floating in the space by selecting whether an amount of dust floating in the space is a first estimation amount smaller than a predetermined threshold or is a second estimation amount larger than or equal to the predetermined threshold and larger than the first estimation amount; and a control unit configured to control a generation amount of the plurality of types of discharge products to be generated from the generation unit based on the amount of dust estimated by the estimation unit.

Abstract: A negative ionization cell for negatively ionizing fine, ultrafine or nanoparticles present in an air flow defined by fumes, vehicle exhaust gases or indoor environments is disclosed. The cell has a body defining an ionizing part having first and second portions which are elongated, preferably plate-like, and facing each other. The first portion has a negative voltage to generate a potential difference with the second portion. The first and second portions also define a passage for the air flow and the first portion supports a plurality of elongated and sharp-pointed bodies projecting into the passage for the air flow and orthogonally to the air flow. The elongated and sharp-pointed bodies generate an electron flow, directed toward the second portion due to the potential difference and intercept the solid particles in the air flow to negatively charge them. An air purifier including the negative ionization cell is also disclosed.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a protective mask to be worn over a nose and mouth of a wearer to protect the wearer from hazards in surrounding ambient air. The mask includes a mask portion, an airway, and an ionization filter. The mask portion includes an interior that extends over the nose and mouth of the wearer. The airway extends between the interior of the mask portion and the surrounding ambient air. The ionization filter includes an emitter within a portion of the airway, and a collector plate radially encompassing the emitter and defining at least a portion of the airway. The collector plate is electrically connected to at least first and second conductive porous filters. The first and second conductive porous filters and the collector plate collectively form at least a portion of a Faraday cage that encapsulates the emitter.
