Abstract:
A composition for promoting the release of bituminous materials and other adhesive materials from a substrate and methods of use thereof. More particularly, a composition comprising a silicone oil-in-water emulsion, which is stabilized by an alkoxylated polysiloxane surfactant, for use as a release agent that can be applied to a substrate, such as a truck bed, prior to use for promoting the free release of a bituminous material, such as asphalt, from the substrate.
Abstract:
Organofunctional silicon particles are covalently functionalized on their surface with at least one organic compound, for example a plurality of —O—(C1-C48)-alkyl compounds. The functionalization of the surface of the silicon particles makes it possible to adjust the properties of fluids in terms of their profile of properties by addition of the modified silicon particles. For instance, the alkoxy-functionalized silicon particles may preferably be added to a motor oil as additives for reducing viscosity.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to oil-in-water emulsion-forming compositions having reduced whitening effect when applied on wet substrates. The oil-in-water emulsion compositions are suitable for use in personal care products, textile treatments, polishing products, gloss enhancements and water resistance treatments.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a glycerin-modified silicone which has an excellent emulsification/dispersion performance and thickening effect when used alone, particularly when the oil phase is a continuous phase. The present invention is a specific diglycerin derivative-modified silicone having a long-chain hydrocarbon group at a prescribed ratio in a molecule and having as a hydrophilic group only a diglycerin derivative group not having an oxyalkylene structure with an average value of the number of repetitions of oxyalkylene units of two or more; and a composition containing the diglycerin derivative-modified silicone.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for making a hexagonal boron nitride slurry and the resulting slurry. The method involves mixing from about 0.5 wt. % to about 5 wt. % surfactant with about 30 wt. % to about 50 wt. % hexagonal boron nitride powder in a medium under conditions effective to produce a hexagonal boron nitride slurry. The present invention also relates to a method for making a spherical boron nitride powder and a method for making a hexagonal boron nitride paste using a hexagonal boron nitride slurry. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a hexagonal boron nitride paste including from about 60 wt. % to about 80 wt. % solid hexagonal boron nitride. Yet another aspect of the present invention relates to a spherical boron nitride powder, a polymer blend including a polymer and the spherical hexagonal boron nitride powder, and a system including such a polymer blend.
Abstract:
A micro-scale heterogeneous emulsion is provided. In some examples, the micro-scale heterogeneous emulsion can include at least two internal phases and an external phase. A method of producing a micro-scale heterogeneous emulsion is also disclosed herein. A method of providing a stable, custom cosmetic composition is also disclosed herein.
Abstract:
Nanoemulsions and processes for their preparation, and their use as formulations of plant protection products and/or pesticides and/or cosmetic preparations.
Abstract:
A method for causing or facilitating the flow of dispersions of solid particulates in liquids, having characteristics of high viscosity or resistance to flow, with particular reference to sludges from purification plants of civil or industrial wastes, which method comprises the addition to the dispersions of silicones of formula wherein R and R′ are identical or different and represent a radical chosen between C1-C5 alkyl and aryl; x is an integer comprised between 3 and 2000.
Abstract:
The present application relates to a transparent oil-in-water emulsion, the oil globules of which have a mean size of less than 100 nm, which comprises at least one silicone surfactant. The emulsion according to the invention is stable on storage and can contain significant amounts of oil while retaining good transparency. It can contain heat-sensitive active principles and can be used in particular in the cosmetics field and in dermatology for the treatment and the care of the skin, mucous membranes, nails, scalp and hair.
Abstract:
A non-aqueous silicone emulsion containing a silicone phase and an organic phase is useful as a component in various personal care compositions. The silicone phase contains a crosslinked silicone elastomer and a low molecular weight silicone fluid and the organic phase contains an organic liquid.
