Abstract:
Surfactant mixtures providing improved dermal compatibility and foam stability contain(a) monoglyceride sulfates or monoglyceride ether sulfates, and(b) sugar surfactants selected from(b1) sucrose esters,(b2) sorbitan esters, and(b3) polysorbates, with the proviso that the ratio by weight of component (a) to component (b) is 75:25 to 50:50.
Abstract:
In the production of highly concentrated pastes of .alpha.-sulfofatty acid alkyl ester alkali metal salts by reaction of fatty acid alkyl esters with gaseous SO.sub.3, subsequent after-reaction in liquid phase and neutralization with aqueous alkali hydroxide solutions, the sulfonation product and aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution are introduced during neutralization into an aqueous phase initially containing at least 55% by weight washing-active substance at a pH value in the range from 2 to 8 and washing-active substance contents of 60 to 70% by weight are established.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a sulfonated dispersant from a petroleum asphalt fraction, comprising:establishing contact between the asphalt fraction dissolved in an inert solvent and liquid or gaseous sulfur trioxide at a temperature equal to or less than 60.degree. C., to obtain a sulfonated asphalt fraction;salifying the sulfonated asphalt fraction thus obtained by contact with an aqueous solution of a hydroxide of an alkaline metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium and recovering the sulfonated salt from the reaction mixture. This process provides water-soluble sulfonated salts of petroleum asphalt fractions, which can be used as fluidifying and stabilizing agents for aqueous dispersions of solids, such as aqueous dispersions of coal or cement.
Abstract:
Ester-sulfonate-containing liquid surfactant concentrates containing one or more surfactants in a quantity of 50 to 70% by weight, based on the total weight of the concentrates, selected from the group consisting of alkali metal of .alpha.-sulfonated fatty acid alkyl esters such as anionic surfactants and linear aliphatic fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers as nonionic surfactants in a ratio of anionic surfactant to nonionic surfactant of from 1:0.3 to 1:3, one or more saturated and/or unsaturated linear aliphatic carboxylic acids in a quantity of from 10 to 30% by weight, based on the total weight of the concentrates, and water in a quantity of from 0 to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the concentrates. The invention also relates to the use of these concentrates in fabric detergents, dishwashing detergents and cleaning preparations for domestic and industrial purposes.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to dispersants containing at least two lipophilic groups (e.g., alkenyl-substituted acylating agent, such as, dodecyl succinic anhydride), and the dispersants contain a hydrophilic component (e.g., alkylene glycol, polyalkylene glycol) present in an amount sufficient to at least partially disperse the amphiphilic compound in aqueous media (e.g., 30 wt % to 80 wt %). The invention further provides for dispersants as phosphate, sulphonate, and phosphite derivatives thereof. The invention further provides for the use of the dispersants in tinter compositions (e.g., universal tinter) and reduced shade paints.
Abstract:
A method for controlling the rheology of aqueous systems, particularly for those intended for underground use, includes injecting an aqueous fluid containing a surfactant gelling agent into the system. The surfactant gelling agents are, for example, fatty aliphatic amidoamine oxides, salts of an alkoxylated monoamine with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and salts of an alkyldiamine with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid. The surfactant gelling agents can be absorbed onto particulate supports to facilitate delivery of the gelling agent. The additives may be incorporated in the viscoelastic fluid to tailor its use in hydraulic fluids, drilling muds, fracture fluids, and in applications such as permeability modification, gravel packing, cementing, and the like.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the production of concentrated mono- and/or disalt dispersions of .alpha.-sulfofatty acids by sulfonation of saturated fatty acids and/or fatty acid mixtures with sulfur trioxide, surfactants being added during the neutralization stage to improve the flowability of the dispersions.
Abstract:
Process for the production of aqueous solutions of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium and/or amine salts of sulfonated fatty acid glycerides by sulfonation of unsaturated fatty acid glycerol esters with gaseous sulfur trioxide, neutralization with aqueous bases and subsequent heating with phase separation, and to the aqueous solutions produced thereby.
Abstract:
Dispersants of increased bioeliminability or biodegradability for use in dye and pigment preparations, as tanning aids, in plastics production and in crop protection formulations contain from 3 to 50% by weight of one or more aromatic or long-chain aliphatic carboxylic acids, salts thereof or anhydrides thereof or a mixture thereof.
