摘要: A device and method for providing a suspended agent such as a contrast agent without mechanical resuspension. A volume of agent is divided into sub-volumes in a network configured to suspend and deliver the sub-volumes of agent to a patient when a propellant fluid flows through the network. The invention reduces sedimentation of agents into one or a few aggregates and eliminates a mechanical mixing step. The invention thus provides a uniformly suspended agent, improving patient health and safety and increasing cost and time savings.

摘要: A central line access and support garment provides an effectively tight inner layer to support and protect central line port sites and external lines, without applying excessive pressure that would cause discomfort. The garment protects a multitude of port site locations. Releasable shoulder closures allow for easy access to the port sites and lines while providing an easy to wear garment for the patient. An inner layer is tight enough to protect the port site, securely holding the bandage, if used at the port site, against the patient's body. The garment offers the flexibility of placing the external lines anywhere on the patient's upper torso for comfort to the patient. An elastic band around the central body cavity serves as a protective shelf to keep external lines from hanging freely and thus pulling on the port site. An outer layer serves to protect the inner layer, absorbing stresses caused by outer garment movement and providing an additional layer of protection for the port site and external lines.

摘要: The fluid injection apparatus is adapted for use with a syringe and includes an injector and a pressure jacket associated with the injector. The injector includes a housing defining an opening for a drive piston extendable from the housing. The pressure jacket secures the syringe during an injection procedure. The pressure jacket has a distal end defining a syringe receiving opening for receiving the syringe, and a proximal end associated with the housing and generally aligned with the opening. The apparatus includes a syringe sensor adapted for engagement by the syringe when loaded into the pressure jacket. The housing may have an engagement tab adapted to engage an engagement recess in the pressure jacket to removably engage the pressure jacket with the housing. The apparatus may have one or more light sources associated with the housing for illuminating the syringe received in the pressure jacket.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a photolytic cell, and to a photolytic artificial lung incorporating such a cell. The photolytic artificial lung converts water to oxygen for blood absorption, regulates pH, the removes carbon dioxide, and co-produces electrical power. The photolytic artificial lung includes a photolytic cell where all of the chemical reactions occur. Additionally, the present invention relates to photolytically sensitive materials for oxygen generation. These materials are useful for gas-free artificial lung and/or pulmonary capillary fabrication. The photolytic cell disclosed herein can also be used to direct chemical reactions in organs other than the lung.

摘要: A method and apparatus for red blood collection and filtration is provided wherein a red blood cell collection assembly provides for leukoreduction filtration concurrent with or soon after the red blood cell collection procedure. The procedure preferably involves filtering the separated red blood cells in a high hematocrit (high-crit) state prior to addition of storage solution thereto. Preferably, a storage solution is passed through the leukoreduction filter after the RBCs have been filtered therethrough. The red blood cell collection filtration and storage assembly is preferably preconnected to a blood component separation disposable assembly, including, for example, a centrifuge vessel and a blood removal/return assembly for removing blood from a donor, passing the blood to the centrifuge vessel for separation of the blood into components for collection and providing for filtration of the separated red blood cell component, as described.
