Abstract:
Compositions for effectively delivering a water-soluble active material to a surface comprise: (a) from about 1% to about 30%, by weight of the composition, of a dialkyl quaternary ammonium compound having the formula: wherein R1 and R2 are independently C12 to C20 saturated alkyl chains; Y is wherein R4 is ethyl or isopropyl; R3 and R5 are independently methyl, ethyl, hydroxyethyl, or hydroxypropyl; m is 1, 2, or 3; n is 1 or 2; p is 0 or 1; and X− is a suitable anion; (b) from about 0.01% to about 10%, by weight of the composition, of water-soluble active material having a C log P of less than about 2.0; and (c) at least about 60%, by weight of the composition, of water; wherein the compositions contain vesicles having a vesicle permeability index of less than about 1.3. Processes to make the compositions comprise the steps of dispersing the dialkyl quaternary ammonium compound and the water-soluble active material in an aqueous solution to form vesicles having a vesicle permeability index of less than about 1.3.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a cosmetic composition for treating or preventing disorders associated with a greasy skin, in particular by an activity reducing sebum secretion, comprising as active principle at least one dicarboxylic fatty acid or one derivative of such a fatty acid. The invention concerns in particular cosmetic compositions for topical administration. The invention also concerns a cosmetic method for treating or preventing disorders associated with hyperseborrhea.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for the administration of aryl-substituted 1,1-diphosphonate compounds to increase the dermal collagen content of skin and effect improvement in photoaged skin, chronologically aged skin and in skin of postmenopusal women and patients suffering from osteoporosis.
Abstract:
Provided is a leave-on hair cosmetic composition, which contains the following components (A) and (B): (A) a citric acid or salt thereof; and (B) at least one or more of an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of aromatic alcohols, N-alkylpyrrolidones, alkylene carbonates, polypropylene glycols, lactones and cyclic ketones, wherein the organic solvent has a ClogP of from −2 to 3; and wherein the leave-on hair cosmetic composition has a pH of from 2 to 5 at 25° C. when diluted to 20 times the weight with water and has a buffering capacity of 0.001 gram equivalent/L or greater but less than 0.2 gram equivalent/L. Provided also is a hair quality improving method which comprises treating the hair with the hair cosmetic composition. The hair cosmetic composition of the present invention can provide benefits such as luster, manageability and good feel of the hair to hair which is apt to be dry and moistureless owing to damage by coloring, permanent weaving, or repetition of excessive blow drying.
Abstract:
A composition, especially for treatment of aged and/or stressed skin, the composition containing, in addition to water, at least one substance that forms lamellar structures with water. The composition further contains S-adenosylmethionine and/or at least one compound that contains a functional group of the general formula —CH2—N⊕—(CH3)3. The lamellar structure has a layer structure in which an upper layer of the substance is aligned with a lower layer, the hydrophilic groups of the substance each point outwards, and the lipophilic groups of the substance are aligned inwards with one another. The lamellar structure is surrounded by a hydrophilic medium, preferably water.
Abstract:
Provided is a leave-on hair cosmetic composition, which contains the following components (A), (B) and (C): (A) an organic C2-8 dicarboxylic acid or salt thereof, (B) at least one or more of an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of aromatic alcohols, N-alkylpyrrolidones, alkylene carbonates, polypropylene glycols, lactones and cyclic ketones, wherein the organic solvent has a ClogP of from −2 to 3, and (C) an edetic acid or a salt thereof, wherein the cosmetic composition has a pH of from 2 to 5 at 25° C. when diluted to 20 times the weight with water. The present invention also relates to a hair quality improving method which includes treating the hair with the hair cosmetic composition. The hair cosmetic composition of the present invention can provide benefits such as luster, manageability, pliability and elasticity to the hair which is apt to be dry, having lost water therefrom owing to damage by coloring, permanent waving, or repetitive excessive blow drying.
Abstract:
A topical composition to protect against hair loss comprising of Sodium diisopropyl naphthalene sulfonate, Butylene glycol, Hampshire N-acyl LED3A, Hamposyl M-30, Hamposyl TC Glutamate. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains the primary active ingredient sodium diisopropyl naphthalene sulfonate or alkyl naphthalene sulfonate and is commercially available from Cytec Industries under the product name of Aerosol OS Surfactant. The Aerosol OS Surfactant is in the chemical family of alkyl aryl sulfonate. In application as a scalp shampoo for follicle treatment the Aerosol OS Surfactant is an active ingredient of sulfur compounds with anti-inflammatory effects to protect against hair loss. The Aerosol OS can be comprised with any surfactant, chelate or inert carrier, etc. In particular, the composition unblocks the follicle, releases entrapped hair and oxidizes proteins into metabolism allowing the dermal papilla the movement to rise and decline during follicle assimilation.
