Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for comparing three-dimensional dental structures, comprising the steps of acquiring (S101) a target data set representing the shape and optical properties of a natural tooth; rendering (S102) a digital tooth model (200) to generate an actual data set representing the shape and optical properties of the digital tooth model; determining (S104) a first comparison value from the actual data set; determining (S105) a second comparison value from the target data set; and determining (S106) a deviation based on the first and second comparison values.
Abstract:
A dental material container includes a cylindrical body that stores a dental material including a pair of opposing primary surfaces, and a rotatable cap covering the body. The cap includes an internal space capable of housing the dental material. The body includes a pair of first holders that are formed on an inner surface of the body to movably hold the primary surfaces of the dental material; the cap includes a pair of second holders formed inside of the cap to movably hold the primary surfaces of the dental material. When the cap is rotated in the circumferential direction relative to the body, a continuous space where the dental material is movable is formed by the first and second holders, the dental material located closest to the opening in the body moves into the cap, and the dental material moved into the cap is housed in the cap.
Abstract:
Disclosed in a method, a user interface and a system for use in determining shade of a patient's tooth, wherein a digital 3D representation including shape data and texture data for the tooth is obtained. A tooth shade value for at least one point on the tooth is determined based on the texture data of the corresponding point of the digital 3D representation and on known texture values of one or more reference tooth shade values.
Abstract:
A tooth arrangement decal constructed and arranged to facilitate the rapid communication of the placement of prostheses with respect to prosthetic teeth on a wax rim and a method of using the same is provided. The tooth arrangement decal may instruct the arrangement of teeth, and in particular, central incisors, lateral incisors, and canines. The tooth arrangement decal may be constructed and arranged to eliminate the need for tedious measurements and inscription of markings on a wax ring to indicate the appropriate location for prostheses during denture set-up.
Abstract:
A method for monitoring the shape of teeth including: producing a three-dimensional digital model of at least one portion of an arch of the patient or “initial reference model”; acquiring at least one two-dimensional image of the arches, referred to as “updated image”, under actual acquisition conditions; analysing each updated image and producing an updated map relating to a piece of discriminating information; optionally determining rough virtual acquisition conditions that approximate the actual acquisition conditions; searching each updated image for a final reference model corresponding to the shape of the teeth, and optionally to the positioning of the teeth, during the acquisition of the updated image; and comparing the shapes of the initial reference model and of the reference model obtained at the end of the preceding steps, referred to as “final reference model”, in order to determine the deformation and/or the movement of teeth between steps a) and b).
Abstract:
A system having an auxiliary color selection body and a method for determining the colors of a dental object, i.e. the colors of tooth, residual limb or gingiva, is provided, wherein the auxiliary color selection body (10) has a substantially U-shaped or L-shaped or ring-shaped structure, on which at least one, preferably 4, reference features (18), for recognition of the auxiliary color selection body (10) is/are attached, and wherein, with respect to the reference features (18), a plurality of tooth, stump or gingiva color fields (30) are arranged on the color selection auxiliary body (10). It is provided for an image of a tooth (16) to be taken with the auxiliary color selection body (10) being adjacent thereto on at least two sides and the tooth color is determined based on this image (FIG. 1).
Abstract:
Gingiva indexing devices and methods with various defined red colour regions have a colour grey card or grey card assigned to it for detecting the gingiva status, in particular for producing a gingival restoration. The devices and method comprise an analysis of at least one region of the gingiva status with regard to its shades of red, the position of the shades of red, the colour profile of the shades of red, their geometry and/or their morphology. The analysis can take place manually and/or digitally, and gingiva information is obtained, in particular in the form of a gingiva map, and optional production of a virtual or real model of a gingival restoration as a reproduction of the missing part of the gums and/or part of gingiva.
Abstract:
A method and system are presented for measuring the whiteness of teeth. This is accomplished by analyzing an average pixel value of teeth taken from a digital image. The pixel value is mathematically standardized to create an indicator that quantifies teeth whiteness. This eliminates subjectivity in measuring teeth whiteness and permits precise communication of the level of teeth whiteness.
Abstract:
A system having at least one dental blank and an associated shade guide. The dental blank exhibits a non-uniform color shading, and the shade guide comprises a plurality of shade specimens each exhibiting a particular color shading representing the same color shading present in a partial area within the dental blank. A method of making a dental restoration includes the use of the system. The invention facilitates making a dental restoration having a color shading resembling the color shading of a natural tooth.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to various devices, systems, kits and methods having dental applications. For instance, a dental tray is provided for use in taking an impression of a person's teeth. A dental shade chart is also provided and includes a shade sticker for use in determining the shade of a person's tooth. Further, the dental tray and/or the shade chart can be included in a kit.
