Abstract: A method is provided, including using at least one computer processor, for receiving, during intraoral scanning of an intraoral three-dimensional (3D) surface by an intraoral scanner, a plurality of intraoral scans of the intraoral 3D surface generated by the intraoral scanner, each intraoral scan including an image of a distribution of discrete unconnected spots of light projected on the intraoral 3D surface, registering the plurality of intraoral scans to each other during the intraoral scanning to update a 3D model of the intraoral 3D surface at a rate of 3-100 times per second, and outputting a view of the 3D model of the intraoral 3D surface to a display. Other applications are also described.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to the methodology of direct manufacture of a customized labial/lingual orthodontic tube by using a ceramic slurry-based additive manufacturing (AM) technology. For example, a method of manufacturing customized ceramic labial/lingual orthodontic tubes by additive manufacturing may comprise measuring dentition data of a profile of teeth of a patient, based on the dentition data, creating a three-dimensional computer-assisted design (3D CAD) model of the patient's teeth, and saving the 3D CAD model, designing a virtual 3D CAD tube structure model for a single labial or lingual tube structure based upon said 3D CAD model, importing data related to the 3D CAD tube structure model into an additive manufacturing machine, and directly producing the tube with the additive manufacturing machine by layer manufacturing from an inorganic material including at least one of a ceramic, a polymer-derived ceramic, and a polymer-derived metal.

Abstract: Systems and methods for fabricating indirect bonding trays are disclosed. Physical models of a patient's teeth can be created with non-functional placeholder brackets, impressions of which can be transferred to indirect bonding trays. This can create wells in which functional brackets can be placed into, reducing errors created from transferring functional brackets from the physical model onto the indirect bonding trays.

Abstract: A method for making a rapid prototype of a patient's mouth to be used in the design and fabrication of a dental prosthesis. The method takes an impression of a mouth including a first installation site having a dental implant installed in the first installation site and a gingival healing abutment having at least one informational marker attached to the dental implant. A stone model is prepared based on the impression, including teeth models and model markers indicative of the at least one informational marker. The model is scanned. Scan data is generated from the scanning. The scan data is transferred to a CAD program. A three-dimensional model of the installation site is created in the CAD program. The at least one informational marker is determined to gather information for manufacturing the rapid protocol. Rapid prototype dimensional information is developed. The rapid prototype dimensional information is transferred to a rapid prototyping machine which fabricate a rapid prototype of the patient's dentition as well as a dental implant analog position.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described that mark and/or correct margin lines and/or other features of dental sites. In one example a three-dimensional model of a dental site is generated from intraoral scan data of the dental site, the three-dimensional model comprising a representation of a preparation tooth. An image of the preparation tooth is received or generated. Data from the image is processed using a trained machine learning model that has been trained to identify margin lines of preparation teeth, wherein the trained machine learning model outputs a probability map comprising, for each pixel in the image, a probability that the pixel depicts a margin line. The three-dimensional model of the dental site is then updated by marking the margin line on the representation of the preparation tooth based on the probability map.
