    摘要: A bearing arrangement for harmonic or strain wave gearing, wherein the bearing arrangement comprises a mating gear, a wave generator, and gearing between the mating gear and the wave generator. The flexible gearing comprises gear teeth which are engaged with corresponding gear teeth on the mating gear. A plurality of rollers is disposed between the flexible gearing and the wave generator. The rollers may be engaged by a roller cage which is also disposed between the flexible gearing and the wave generator, thereby preventing the rollers from contacting each other and preventing roller-to-roller friction. The rollers ride directly on the exterior surface of the wave generator. As the wave generator moves, the wave generator pushes on the rollers which, in turn, push on the flexible gearing. The flexible gearing, in turn, meshes with the mating gear, thus creating relative motion. The bearing arrangement is such that the rollers roll directly on the flexible gearing and the wave generator, and the rollers experience relative motion between themselves and the wave generator as well as the flexible gearing.

    摘要: A roller bearing includes an outer ring having a substantially cylindrical internal bearing surface and an outside surface defining a plurality of protuberances. A protective coating is applied to the outside surface of the outer ring. An inner ring is coaxially disposed at least partially in the outer ring and has a substantially cylindrical external bearing surface. The external bearing surface and the internal bearing surface define an annular cavity in which a plurality of rolling elements is disposed. The rolling elements are in rolling engagement with the external bearing surface and the internal bearing surface. The outside surface of the outer ring can be case hardened, for example the outer ring can be carburized. The outside surface of the outer ring can be knurled. A method of manufacturing such a bearing is also disclosed.

The roller bearing sub-assemblies can guide linear movement of the hub relative to the collar along a selected direction. Each roller bearing sub-assembly can include a roller and straps wrapped partially around the roller. Each strap is connected to at least one of the hub and the collar. And at least one of the straps can be connected to the roller while at least one of the straps can be circumferentially free of the roller. The hub and collar are moveable relative to each other along the selected direction for a distance that is approximately half of a circumference of the roller. Methods of forming linear roller bearing assemblies are also disclosed, as are multi-cylinder Stirling engines and a thermal energy recovery system.
