    摘要: A bushing for securing a grip to a firearm that includes a housing made from a resilient material and an insert made from a material having a hardness greater than the resilient material of the housing. The housing has a top end, a bottom end, a housing bore extending from the top end to the bottom end, and a contact surface that is configured to engage an internal surface of a receiver of the firearm. The insert is sized and shaped to be received within the housing bore and includes an insert bore configured for engagement with a fastener. The housing is configured to undergo elastic deformation when compressed between the insert and the internal surface of the receiver as the fastener is tightened to draw the insert toward the internal surface of the receiver.

    摘要: Galvanically protected reinforcement dowel pins and methods of producing the same. In one embodiment, the reinforcement dowel pins comprise a bar or tube, the longitudinal exposed surfaces of which are covered by a heavy gauge of a sacrificial metal, such as zinc, zinc alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, aluminum, or aluminum alloy. The bar or tube comprises steel, carbon steel, or other ferrous metal. The heavy gauge of sacrificial metal is applied to the ferrous metal by various processes, such as roll bonding, lock seaming, welding, die casting, flame spraying, plasma spraying, dipping, sinking, and drawing. The resulting reinforcement dowel pins resist corrosion without sacrificing structural integrity, and are reasonable in materials and manufacturing costs. These dowel pins may be installed in adjacent concrete panels using conventional methods, and therefore do not introduce additional costs in installation.

The plug of filler material fills the hole made by the fastener body when the fastener is driven into a workpiece. Many types of fasteners can be used, such as nails and staples. In the case of a nail, the plug of filler material would be joined to the nail head. In the case of a U-shaped staple, the plug of filler material would be joined to the cross member joining the staple legs. The filler material can be a wide variety of materials such as wood putty, acrylic sealant, fiberglass resin fillers, epoxy adhesives, and plastic.

    摘要: A threaded fastener with a shape memory alloy (SMA) coatings on its threads is disclosed. The fastener has special usefulness in high temperature applications where high reliability is important. The SMA coated fastener is threaded into or onto a mating threaded part at room temperature to produce a fastened object. The SMA coating is distorted during the assembly. At elevated temperatures the coating tries to recover its original shape and thereby exerts locking forces on the threads. When the fastened object is returned to room temperature the locking forces dissipate. Consequently the threaded fasteners can be readily disassembled at room temperature but remains securely fastened at high temperatures.A spray technique is disclosed as a particularly useful method of coating of threads of a fastener with a shape memory alloy.

    摘要: A blind rivet assembly is disclosed. The rivet assembly comprises a mandrel, a rivet body, a buckle sleeve, an expanding wrinkle sleeve, a pressure sleeve and a locking collar. The sleeves, rivet body and collar are slideably disposed about the mandrel with said buckle sleeve disposed adjacent one end of the body, and the mandrel extending through the body and beyond the other end thereof. The buckle sleeve has a generally cylindrical configuration such that when subjected to a pulling force, the sleeve buckles outwardly from the mandrel, slides about the rivet body and engages a workpiece. The wrinkle sleeve has a generally cylindrical, but longitudinally corrugated configuration, such that as the mandrel proceeds through the rivet body, the wrinkle sleeve expands radially and helps create an interference fit between the rivet body and an opening in the workpiece.

    摘要: An improved device for anchoring mine roofs utilizing bolts prestressed to place them under high tension loading is disclosed. The bolt is secured by an anchor consisting of an expandable shell and an expander nut with the nut being movable lengthwise of the hole by turning the bolt. The surfaces of the anchor which engage the surfaces of the hole in which it is installed are coated with sand bonded thereto by a thin coat of a suitable adhesive. By the use of a polywax material to lubricate the threading of the bolt and the camming surfaces of the expander nut, very high lateral expansion forces are generated to press the sand coated surfaces of the anchor against the rock walls creating a high tension load supporting engagement between the anchor and the rock matrix.

    摘要: A multi-layer plating and method for improving the corrosion resistance of ferrous metal articles, such as steel fasteners, are provided in accordance with the invention. The multi-layer plating comprises, in sequence over a ferrous metal substrate, a layer of an alloy which has micro-throwing power, such as nickel-cadmium, nickel-zinc, iron-cadmium, iron-zinc, cobalt-cadmium, or cobalt-zinc, a layer of cadmium, cadmium-tin alloy, a dual layer of cadmium and tin, zinc or zinc alloy, a layer of copper, a layer of nickel, and a layer of chromium or a metallic chromium substitute. The method comprises plating, and preferably electroplating, the aforementioned layers of alloy and metals over an article having a ferrous metal substrate to obtain improved corrosion resistance.
