    Abstract: A novel phantom-powered FET (field effect transistor) circuit for audio application is disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, a novel phantom-powered FET preamplifier gain circuit can minimize undesirable sound distortions and reduce the cost of producing a conventional preamplifier gain circuit. Moreover, in one embodiment of the invention, one or more novel rounded-edge magnets may be placed close to a ribbon of a ribbon microphone, wherein the one or more novel rounded-edge magnets reduce or minimize reflected sound wave interferences with the vibration of the ribbon during an operation of the ribbon microphone. Furthermore, in one embodiment of the invention, a novel backwave chamber operatively connected to a backside of the ribbon can minimize acoustic pressure, anomalies in frequency responses, and undesirable phase cancellation and doubling effects.

    Abstract: A novel ribbon microphone incorporates rounded-edge magnet motor assembly, a backwave chamber, and a phantom-powered JFET circuit. In one embodiment of the invention, one or more novel rounded-edge magnets may be placed close to a ribbon of the ribbon microphone, wherein the one or more novel rounded-edge magnets reduce or minimize reflected sound wave interferences with the vibration of the ribbon during an operation of the ribbon microphone. Furthermore, in one embodiment of the invention, a novel backwave chamber operatively connected to a backside of the ribbon can minimize acoustic pressure, anomalies in frequency responses, and undesirable phase cancellation and doubling effects.     Abstract: A ribbon microphone unit includes a permanent magnet that forms a magnetic field and a ribbon diaphragm that is disposed in the magnetic field and vibrates upon receiving a sound wave. An elastic layer made of synthetic resin is formed at least at a portion of the ribbon diaphragm, the portion vibrating upon receiving the sound wave. Preferably, the ribbon diaphragm is formed into triangular waves with the portion vibrating upon receiving sound waves being alternately folded along lines in a width direction across the entire length. The elastic layer may be formed on one or both surfaces of the ribbon diaphragm and may be provided only at both side ends of the ribbon diaphragm.

    Abstract: A ribbon microphone includes two magnets spaced in parallel and generating a magnetic field therebetween, two ribbon diaphragms arranged in parallel at a predetermined distance in the magnetic field, and a step-up transformer raising the voltages of electric signals generated in response to vibrations of the ribbon diaphragms in the magnetic field and outputs the raised electric signals. The step-up transformer includes two primary windings and two secondary windings corresponding to the two ribbon diaphragms, one of the two ribbon diaphragms and one of the two primary windings of the step-up transformer are connected in parallel whereas the others are connected in parallel, and the two secondary windings of the step-up transformer are connected in series so as to have opposite polarities. The ribbon microphone exhibits enhanced shielding effect without shielding a step-up transformer and does not generate noise caused by electromagnetic induction.
