    摘要: A multi-beam scanning device in which generation of differences in scanning speed and curved image planes among a plurality of beams is prevented and pitch adjustment for the plurality of beams in the sub-scanning direction can easily be performed. Cylindrical lenses are provided on respective optical paths extending from a plurality of light sources to a beam splitter, and positions of the cylindrical lenses are adjusted by optical path correcting mechanisms for adjustment of position of the respective beams in the sub-scanning direction. A sensor section receives the respective beams to output to a control circuit a detection signal corresponding to a light receiving position. The control circuit drives an optical path correcting drive circuit based on a predetermined threshold and the output signal to control actions of the optical path correcting mechanisms.

    摘要: An improved flying spot scanner (48, 68) is disclosed, which is particularly applicable to use with a raster output scanner (ROS). The primary scan provided by an ROS is a continuous scan of the optical beam (26) along the scan line (40). The present invention provides a discontinuous pixel-by-pixel scan in the opposite direction to the continuous primary scan. Thus each pixel is positioned statically at its correct location on the photoreceptor (54) during the pixel's duration. At the end of each pixel's duration, the beam snaps rapidly to the position of the next pixel. Use of this invention will form a non-blurred image of each pixel on the photoreceptor (54). The invention uses an optical deflector (50, 70) to drive the beam opposite to the direction of the primary beam scan during each pixel's duration. The optical deflector (50, 70) may be an angle deflector (50) when used in a collimated optical beam (60), or it may be a translation deflector (70) when used in a non-collimated optical beam (72). This invention provides a flying spot scanner (48, 68) in which all the gray scale detail and resolution available in a pixel is preserved, with no smearing or blurring of pixels, independent of the content of adjacent pixels.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a precise method of registering a plurality of ROS imagers, so as to form sequential registered images on a photoreceptor belt in a single pass. Pairs of belt holes are formed in the photoreceptor belt, outside the image area and outside of the scan width of the ROS imagers. A pair of light sources are incorporated into the post polygon optics of each ROS imager so as to produce a light spot at the photoreceptor surface which will periodically illuminate the holes on the belt. As the leading edge of the belt holes advances into the beams, detectors placed beneath the belt and beneath the exposure station provide signals representing the exposure level of the light source output. The position of a transmissive optical element with no optical power, subsequent to each of said ROS imagers, is adjusted in response to registration error signals generated by said photodetecting means to adjust the position of said scan lines. The detectors produce a current output representative of the exposure level. The current output is converted into page sync signals which are reproducible through each of the imaging stations to produce registration of the first scan line of each image sequence.
