Abstract: To provide an image display apparatus and a display apparatus including the image display apparatus which are capable of achieving further simplification of an apparatus configuration, achieving further speed-up of generation of a super multi-view, achieving further suppression of an apparatus manufacturing cost, and achieving further suppression of an adjustment cost of an optical axis. Provided is an image display apparatus including a light source, at least two image forming apparatuses, a quarter-wave plate, a beam splitter, a lens, and an eyepiece for each of eyes of a user. Out of the at least two image forming apparatuses, a first image forming apparatus is provided in a predetermined angular direction with respect to an optical axis of the lens, and a second image forming apparatus is provided in a direction substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens. Light emitted from the light source is incident on the first image forming apparatus and the second image forming apparatus via the lens, the beam splitter, and the quarter-wave plate in this order. First image light emitted from the first image forming apparatus and second image light emitted from the second image forming apparatus are incident on each of the eyes of the user via the quarter-wave plate, the beam splitter, and the eyepiece in this order.

Abstract: A display device is provided. The display device includes a display module including a display panel, a naked-eye 3D grating, and a reverse prism sheet disposed between the display panel and the naked-eye 3D grating. The reverse prism sheet includes a substrate and a prism layer disposed on a side of the substrate, and the prism layer is disposed toward the display panel. The display device provided by the present disclosure may diverge the light emitted from the backlight through the display panel into the naked-eye 3D grating to enhance the stereoscopic optical effect.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, devices, and systems for reconstructing three-dimensional objects with display zero order light suppression are provided. In one aspect, a method includes illuminating a display with light, a portion of the light illuminating display elements of the display, and modulating the display elements of the display with a hologram corresponding to holographic data to diffract the portion of the light to form a holographic scene corresponding to the holographic data, and to suppress display zero order light in the holographic scene. The display zero order light can include reflected light from the display.

Abstract: The present invention is an improvement in dynamic autostereoscopic visual displays emitting a field of light beams into an observer viewing space from a hogel array formed at a transparent projection screen surface having refractive beam expanding functions. The transparent screen is illuminated from the rear by an X-Y array of projectors focused on the screen, where each hogel location is illuminated by a local group of multiple projectors within the larger array. The brightness, color and direction of the light beams emitted by each hogel are controlled by one image point in each member of the local projector group that illuminates that hogel. The invention enables autostereoscopic display systems with compact dimensions and high overall resolution and brightness by combining the output of an array of small projectors with lower resolution and brightness on a single projection screen.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of displaying a magnified image comprising obtaining an image of a scene using a camera with greater resolution than the display, and capturing the image in the native resolution of the display by either grouping pixels together, or by capturing a smaller region of interest whose pixel resolution matches that of the display. The invention also relates to a method whereby the location of the captured region of interest may be determined by external inputs such as the location of a person's gaze in the displayed unmagnified image, or coordinates from a computer mouse. The invention further relates to a method whereby a modified image can be superimposed on an unmodified image, in order to maintain the peripheral information or context from which the modified region of interest has been captured.
