摘要: The present disclosure relates generally to embedding auxiliary data and data hiding. One claim recites a method including: receiving data representing a media signal; using a programmed electronic processor, calculating perceptibility characteristics of the media signal, in which the perceptibility characteristics include contrast; using a programmed electronic processor, calculating a non-linear contrast to gain mapping using the perceptibility characteristics; using a programmed electronic processor, embedding an auxiliary signal in the media signal with reference to the non-linear contrast to gain mapping. Other claims and combinations are also provided.

摘要: Advanced watermark embedders use psycho visual/acoustic models to minimize perception of the embedded watermark in media contents. However, it is expensive to implement such advanced watermark embedders in consumer appliances (3) such as DVD recorders. In accordance with the invention, embedding strength parameters (JND) are calculated (13) off-line at a remote location (1) and transmitted along with the media contents to the consumer appliance (3). A relatively simple embedder (33) uses the received parameters to control the strength of the watermark (36) to be embedded. The parameters may be accommodated in the transmitted signal as payload of a fragile watermark or as user data in an encrypted MPEG stream.

摘要: An encoding apparatus that embeds a watermark in host data is provided. A multiplexer generates a plurality of bit sequences by adding initial data to the head of the watermark. A scrambler scrambles a plurality of the bit sequences respectively and generates a plurality of scrambled watermarks. An embedder embeds a plurality of the scrambled watermarks in the host data and generates a plurality of candidate watermarked host data. A signal-to-noise ratio calculator evaluates the robustness of the watermarks hidden in the respective candidate watermarked host data. A selector selects one candidate that has the highest level of the robustness as a final watermarked host data.

摘要: The present invention relates generally to steganography and data hiding. In one embodiment a method is provided including obtaining a media signal; determining characteristics of the media signal; based at least in part on the characteristics of the media signal, providing a map of the media signal; transforming at least some portions of the media signal into a transform domain; and hiding plural-bit data in at least some portions of the transformed media signal. The map identifies at least one area in the media signal in which hiding of plural-bit data should be avoided or suppressed. At least one of the act of transforming or the act of hiding utilizes the map of the media signal. Other embodiments are also provided.

摘要: The present invention relates to a digital image watermarking apparatus and method. Luminance component of a digital image are transformed into coefficients of a frequency domain, and watermark is generated by encrypting a user key and generating pseudo random number from encrypted user key. Then, a replacement coefficient generated from a coefficient of a first frequency area and the watermark is replaced with a coefficient of a second frequency area so that the watermark is embedded into the digital image. The embedded watermark is extracted at an authenticating apparatus and the digital image is authenticated by finding the correlation between the extracted watermark and watermark for authentication.

摘要: A detecting data processing apparatus configured to identify at least one of a plurality of code words present in a marked version of a material item. The detecting apparatus including a registration processor operable to compare the samples of the marked material item with a copy of the original material item samples. If a sample of the marked material item and the original material item differ by a comparison threshold, the registration processor replaces the compared sample of the marked material item with the corresponding sample from the original material item.
