Embodiments can be configured to detect a mode of the electronic device to determine whether the device is in a telephone mode; receive a speech signal from a speech source while the device is in the telephone mode; and process the speech signal to improve the perceived quality of the speech at a recipient when the electronic device is in a telephone mode; wherein processing the speech signal to improve the perceived quality of the speech comprises, decreasing the signal level of audio content outside of a determined frequency band relative to the signal level of the audio content within the determined frequency band; and wherein the determined frequency band is a frequency band associated a vocal range of the anticipated speech content.

    摘要: A low-frequency eliminating unit outputs a signal derived from attenuating the extreme bass range in an input audio signal, so as to reduce bass distortion. A high-frequency retrieving unit retrieves, from the signal output from the low-frequency eliminating unit, signal components at frequencies higher than the marginal frequency. A front low-pass filter and a back low-pass filter retrieve, from the signal output from the low-frequency eliminating unit, components other than the signal retrieved by the high-frequency retrieving unit. An amplifying unit amplifies a signal output from the low-frequency retrieving unit. A synthesizing unit synthesizes a signal output from the high-frequency retrieving unit and a signal output from the amplifying unit.

    摘要: Sound picked up by a microphone of a first sound field is reproduced by a speaker of a second sound field, and a sound picked up by a microphone of the second sound field is reproduced by the speaker of the first sound field. Sound pressure detection section detects a sound pressure of a sound present in the second (or first) sound field picked up by the microphone of the second (or first) sound field, other than a sound reproduced by the speaker of the first (or second) sound field. Other sound pressure detection section detects a sound pressure with which the sound picked up by the microphone of the second (or first) sound field and reproduced by the speaker of the first (or second) sound field is picked up by the microphone of the first (or second) sound field. Sound-pressure-difference detection section adjusts a gain of an automatic gain adjustment section in such a manner that the two detected sound pressures assume a predetermined relationship. Thus, any sound picked up in one of the first and second sound fields can be reproduced in the other sound field with an enhanced sense of unity and connection between the two sound fields.

    摘要: An AM receiver includes an audio filter that is configured to selectively narrow the audio bandwidth of the demodulated signal when a signal with a low signal-to-noise ratio is received. By suitably bandpass-filtering the signal, for example, to 200–5000 Hertz, the intelligibility of the demodulated audio signal is not substantially reduced, whereas this bandpass-filtering substantially suppresses the audio noise that is typically found to be most annoying when listening to an full-bandwidth audio signal with a low signal-to-noise ratio. Optionally, the audio filter also provides gain to the bandpass-filtered signal.

    摘要: An audio apparatus is constructed for use in negative drive of a loudspeaker having an internal impedance to perform a desired amplitude-frequency characteristic. In the audio apparatus, an amplifier device drives the loudspeaker with a driving voltage. A feedback device performs a positive feedback of a signal corresponding to the driving voltage of the loudspeaker to the amplifier device with a variable feedback gain, thereby causing the amplifier device to generate a negative impedance effective to negate the internal impedance of the loudspeaker. An adjustment device decreases the variable feedback gain of the feedback device as a level of the driving voltage of the loudspeaker increases, thereby adjusting the amplitude-frequency characteristic of the amplifier device.
