    摘要: Separate control of the operation of an audio amplifier and a charge pump that synthesizes a negative voltage supply (VSS) for improving the dynamic range of the audio amplifier. The audio amplifier is typically powered by a single positive power supply (VDD) and the charge pump is arranged to synthesize a negative voltage supply rail (VSS) that enables a greater dynamic range for the amplifier's “on” and “shut down” modes of operation. Also, when the audio amplifier enters its shut down mode of operation to create at least some isolation from Line_In audio signals provided at the amplifier's output by other electronic devices, the amplifier's charge pump stays “on” and continues to provide the negative voltage supply rail (VSS). In this way, the greater dynamic range offered by the presence of both the positive and negative voltage rails is provided even if the amplifier is in a shut down mode.

Ground-side outputs of the first and second class-D amplifiers are connected to respective ones of the first ends of remaining two of the four coils, and first and second ground-side output terminals are connected to respective ones of the second ends of the remaining two coils. Single-end connection is realized by connecting a separate load to each of the class-D amplifiers via the corresponding first (or second) hot-side and ground-side output terminals. BTL connection is realized by connecting a single load to the class-D amplifiers via the first and second hot-side output terminals.

    摘要: Systems and methods for reduced distortion in a class D amplifier are provided. An “ideal” digital output signal is produced. The “ideal” digital output signal is then compared to the actual output signal in an error amplifier. The integrator input is the difference between the output stage waveform and the ideal output stage waveform. The net input to the integrator now comprises the imperfections of the power stage, and the feedback loop drives their average to zero. This error is then amplified and integrated. The integrated signal is than applied to a summer where it is added to the analog input. Then as in the typical Class D amplifier, the integrated signal is compared in an error amplifier to a ramp signal generated from the ramp generator.

    摘要: An overdrive control system includes a voltage controlled current source to deliver a compensation current, and being between a first voltage reference and an internal node, which is connected to an output terminal. The voltage controlled current source has a control terminal connected to an output terminal of an adding block, which has a positive input connected to an input terminal. At least one clamping block is between the output terminal and a second voltage reference, and is connected to a negative input of the adding block. The voltage controlled current source delivers its compensation current to the output terminal when a voltage signal on the input terminal has an higher value than a voltage signal on the output terminal, and forces an output voltage signal to follow an input voltage signal to an extent that depends on a clamping voltage provided by the clamping block.

    摘要: Systems and methods for “shadowing” a target codec to provide additional features that are not available in the target codec. In one embodiment, an audio amplification system includes a High Definition Audio (HDA) bus, and an HDA controller, a conventional HDA codec and a shadow HDA codec coupled to the HDA bus. The conventional codec receives audio data and commands from the HDA controller via the bus and processes them to generate an output audio signal. The shadow codec snoops the audio data and commands on the HDA bus that are targeted to the conventional codec. The shadow codec processes the snooped audio data and commands to generate a second audio output. The shadow codec does not communicate with the HDA controller and is transparent to the controller. The shadow codec does not request enumeration from the HDA controller and does not receive an address from the HDA controller.
