摘要: A pulse width modulated power converter is presented with load-adaptive power transistor scaling scheme using analog-digital hybrid control. The coarse digital control generates an approximate duty cycle necessary for driving a given load and selects an appropriate width of power transistors to minimize redundant power dissipation. The fine analog control provides the final tuning of the duty cycle to compensate for the error from the coarse digital control. The mode switching between the analog and digital controls is accomplished by a mode arbiter which estimates the average duty cycle for the given load condition from limit cycle oscillations induced by the coarse adjustments.

摘要: An energy efficient apparatus includes a switching device, a frequency dependent reactive device, and a control element is provided. The switching device is coupled to a source of electrical power and includes a pair of transistors and is adapted to receive a control signal and to produce an alternating current power signal. The frequency of the alternating current power signal is responsive to the control signal. The frequency dependent reactive device is electrically coupled to the pair of transistors for receiving the alternating current power signal and producing an output power signal. The frequency dependent reactive device is chosen to achieve a desired voltage of the output power signal relative to the frequency of the alternating current power signal. The control element senses an actual voltage of the direct current power signal and modifies the control signal delivered to achieve the desired voltage of the direct current power signal.

摘要: The present invention introduces a new compact Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) solution that hybrids a buck converter with a resonant switched-capacitor auxiliary circuit that is connected at the load side. By using a new control concept of the present invention, the auxiliary circuit effectively mimics increased capacitance during loading and unloading transient events, reducing the burden on both the input and output filters, and reduces the current stress.

摘要: A converter control unit, method, and computer program product for controlling a power supply device including a converter that provides power to a load. In one embodiment, the converter control unit is configured to obtain a load voltage measure from the converter representing a load voltage of the load, obtain an estimate of a voltage drop between the converter and the load, and obtain a reference voltage corresponding to a desired load voltage. The converter control unit is also configured to adjust the reference voltage or the load voltage measure with the estimate of the voltage drop, and compare, after the adjustment, the load voltage measure with the reference voltage to acquire an error signal. The converter control unit is still further configured to control the converter to provide the load voltage based on the error signal.

摘要: Methods of operating switching power supplies are disclosed. A power supply has a transformer and a switch coupled to the primary side of the transformer for controlling the current flow through the primary side of the transformer. A method includes determining the output voltage of the power supply. A first minimum switching frequency is generated for driving the switch in response to the output voltage being greater than a nominal output voltage and less than a predetermined voltage. A second minimum switching frequency is generated for driving the switch in response to the output voltage being equal to or greater than the predetermined voltage, wherein the first minimum switching frequency is greater than the second minimum switching frequency.
