    摘要: A system is provided for suppressing transient currents in electrical circuits to prevent damage to switching devices such as relays and/or solid-state switching devices. An associated automatic transfer switch (ATS) system (300) includes a primary power cord terminating in cord cap (302) for receiving power from a primary power source and a secondary power cord terminating in cord cap (304) for receiving power from a secondary power source. The system (300) further includes an output (306) for connecting to an output load such as a piece of electronic equipment. The output (306) may be a female outlet such that the system (300) can be directly connected to a male power port of a piece of equipment. The system (300) further includes a micro-ATS module (308) operative to sense a power outage or degradation of signal quality for the power signal of at least the primary power source and, in response, to switch the power supply from the primary source to the secondary power source. A surge suppression circuit (310) is interposed in the secondary power cord between the module (308) and the cord cap (304).

The power control functionality may selectively enable or disable a flow of electrical current through the power cord and/or selectively control an amount of electrical current that is permitted to flow through the power cord. The power cord may be configured to monitor the state of an electronic device to which it is connected and selectively activate and/or modify the operation of the power control functionality in response to the detection of a particular state of the electronic device. The power cord may also be configured to receive and analyze sensor data, and based at least on the analysis, selectively activate and/or modify the operation of the power control functionality.

    摘要: This invention disclosure is an electrical outlet receptacle containing the high voltage AC side and low voltage DC power supply used typically for charging and/or powering portable electronic devices. The charge connector for interfacing with the portable device is contained in a removable module. Furthermore the removable module may contain a retractable charge cord or charge cords, charge status indicator lights, power supply switches, and it also may contain a portion of the power supply control circuitry to provide the particular power and signaling required to interface with the specific portable device. The other portion of the power supply and control circuitry would be contained in the fixed portion of the receptacle and/or the electrical box. Finally there may be additional heat sinks to provide enough thermal dissipation from the power supply.
