摘要: A neutron reactant layer (220) is directly coated inside an aluminum substrate (200) of an incident window (20). A first scintillator layer (201) is formed inside the neutron reactant layer 220, and a photoelectric conversion layer (202) is formed inside the first scintillator layer (201). A neutron reactant layer (210) is composed of enriched boron carbide (10B4C), and generates α-rays from neutrons by a (n, α) reaction in enriched boron. The first scintillator layer (201) is light-emitted by this α-rays.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide an X-ray image tube which enables acquisition of an image of a proper density by increasing contrast without increasing an irradiation dose of X-rays. The X-rays absorbed or scattered through a subject emit light on an input surface formed in an input window, and the light is further converted into electrons on a photoelectric surface which converts the light into the electrons, accelerated and focused by a focusing electrode, and then guided to an anode side. The electrons guided to the anode side are made visible by a fluorescent substance, and an image of a color is projected on a glass plate with a luminance and a color based on a distribution of the incident X-rays in accordance with the dose of the X-rays.

摘要: An X-ray image intensifier (1) includes an entrance screen (2) with a photocathode (3). A television camera (15) is optically coupled to the exit window (12) of the X-ray image intensifier. The X-ray image intensifier with the television camera derives a primary image signal form an X-ray image on the entrance screen. The X-ray image intensifier is provided with a radiation source (4), such as flashlights or LEDs, for irradiating the photocathode (3). Irradiation of the photocathode produces a light intensity distribution on the exit window wherefrom the television camera derives a control signal. Correction numbers are derived from the signal levels of the control signal. These correction numbers are employed for correcting the primary image signal.

摘要: A soft x-ray imaging device is disclosed having a housing defining a housing chamber. An optic post having a planar surface is secured to the housing so that the planar surface is positioned within the housing chamber. A phosphorus coating is applied to the planar surface of the post for converting electrons to visible light. A microchannel plate for converting x-rays to electrons is secured within the housing chamber so that the microchannel plate is spaced from and parallel to the planar surface of the optic post. An opening is formed in the housing in alignment with the microchannel plate and this opening is sealingly closed by a window which is made of a material substantially transparent to soft x-rays. This window also creates a vacuum tight housing chamber.

摘要: This invention relates to an X-ray image intensifier for intensifying and reproducing an image of an object, by use of X-ray and the like. An evacuated envelope of the image intensifier is constituted by a cylindrical glass body having an open end and a closed end, an X-ray input window covering the open end of the body, and a support ring for providing a hermetical seal between the body and the window at the open end. The window is constituted by a domed portion which expands outwardly from the evacuated envelope, a flange portion which is formed around the peripheral edge of the window and has a flat bonding surface which extends perpendicular to the axis of the evacuated envelope, with a curved portion forming a transitional area between the domed and flange portions. The support ring is bonded to the flange portion, at the flat bonding surface, and has a smaller inner diameter than the outer diameter of the curved portion. Further, the inner end of the ring member is located inward of the inner end of the flange portion.

摘要: The thickness of the layer of luminescent material on the edges of the screen at approximately 1/10.degree. from the edge of the image field is approximately 15 to 25% smaller than its thickness at the center of the screen. Thus the length of the x-ray path within the luminescent material is substantially the same irrespective of the angle of incidence of the x-rays on the screen and, when the x-ray energy varies, the sensitivity at all points of the screen varies substantially in the same manner. The screen in accordance with the invention is primarily employed in digital radiology systems in which the same image is produced several times by utilizing different x-ray energies.

摘要: An electrostatic field shaping electrode is mounted external to an image intensifier tube in proximate spaced-apart aligned coaxial relation to an insulating envelope wall portion which is exposed to an internal electron accelerating cavity. The field shaping electrode may be employed during the operation of the tube for substantially preventing electron bombardment of the exposed insulating wall portion and for avoiding spurious output signals resulting from the generation of positive ions by that electron bombardment.

摘要: For coupling optical windows, in particular two fiberoptics windows, a diaphragm construction is used. This ensures a homogeneous pressure distribution over the window areas and prevents sliding or tilting movements of the windows. By reducing the weight of the components to be supported by the coupling to a minimum the elastic pressure to be exerted by the diaphragm construction can be restricted.

The invention involves locating an electromagnet coil in the vicinity of the photocathode of the image tube where emitted electron energy is low, to nullify the effects of the earth''s magnetic field. Means are provided for adjusting the field strength of the coil for various orientations of the image tube.

摘要: An optical image is projected onto a planar surface of a photocathode that derives an electron beam replica of the image. A target electrode displaced relative to the photocathode so that it does not obstruct the optical image includes a planar surface for receiving and deriving an accurate replica of the electron beam image. The two planar surfaces are parallel. The electron beam image is focused on the target electrode by providing throughout a region that extends between the planar surfaces of the photocathode and receiving electrode, constant, homogeneous d.c. electric and magnetic fields that are canted relative to each other. The electric field extends in a direction perpendicular to the planar surfaces while the magnetic field extends along a straight line that intersects the photocathode and target electrode at an acute angle.
