摘要： An electric power tool mounted switch that provides safety-disconnect under contact-weld conditions, and is of the manual close, manual open, or momentary (spring return), double-pole type having an actuator of the toggle lever, trigger or other suitable type. The operating member actuates one end of an intermediate lever normally pivoted at its other end on a slidable safety-disconnect bar that is normally held to the base by a first spring-loaded detent. The intermediate lever is coupled and pivotally mounted at its midportion to a slidable contact carrier through a firing spring and positive action mechanism. The contact carrier slides along and is held to the safety-disconnect bar by a second spring-loaded detent in either its contacts closed or contacts open position. In normal operation, upon movement of the actuator to "on", one firing spring is compressed and follow-up positive action causes the second detent to release allowing the contact carrier to snap over and close the contacts, and similarly to reopen the contacts under manual control or momentary return spring force and the other firing spring and follow-up positive action. Should one or more contacts weld closed so that the contact carrier cannot return, the intermediate lever compresses the other firing spring whereupon follow-up positive action releases the first detent allowing the safety-disconnect bar to trip and snap over and force out a component such as a kick-out spring on a stationary contact that causes the circuit to open. This helical, compressed, kick-out spring normally holds a close-first open-last leaf spring stationary contact against one movable contact but when kicked out, allows the stationary contact to flex open under its inherent bias thereby to interrupt the power circuit to the tool.

摘要： A plunger operated switch has a pair of movable contacts on a movable contact carrier bridged by a secondary contact supported on a pushbutton operator member which is biased apart from the contact carrier. Depression of the pushbutton operator for the plunger assembly moves the primary movable contacts into bridging engagement with the stationary contacts through the secondary contact member. In the event the primary movable contacts weld to the stationary contacts and an operating force is removed from the plunger operator, a spring biases the secondary contact away from the primary movable contacts to open the bridging relationship therebetween and open the circuit controlled by the switch. A pair of normally closed contacts are arranged for operation by the pushbutton operator so that the contacts open before the main contacts close and close after the main contacts open, rendering them particularly suitable for use as dynamic braking contacts in a motor control application. Insulating means are provided between the primary movable contacts and the secondary bridging contact to prevent reclosure thereof once the secondary contact is separated from the primary movable contacts.

摘要： A free-wheeling safety switch is intended for controlling a power supply for a motor and includes a linked single-throw conductor and a double-throw conductor. A fusible link is located between the poles of the conductors. A connection between the double-throw conductor and the single-throw conductor switches the conductors sequentially such that the double-throw conductor switches between its normally closed position and its switched position prior to the single-throw conductor shifting from its normally-off position to its on position. The single-throw conductor is switched from its on position to its off position before the double throw conductor switches to its normally closed position. The power supply is electrically connected to the motor only when the double-throw conductor is in its switched position and the single-throw conductor is in its on position.

摘要： A safety switch with a contactor structure including first and second contactor contacts electrically connected to each other. The switch has an "on" state in which first and second terminal contacts are contacted with the first and second contactor contacts, respectively, to thereby electrically connect the terminal contacts therebetween, and an "off" state in which the terminal contacts are not electrically connected to each other by the contactor structure, whereby current cannot flow between the terminal contacts. The switch also has a cycle control mechanism with a normal-state in which the switch is free to cycle between the "on" and "off" states, and a welded-state in which one of the terminal contacts is welded to one of the contactor contacts and the other of the contactor contacts is separated from the other of the terminal contacts. When the cycle control mechanism is in the welded state, the switch is prevented from moving from the "off" state to the "on" state.

摘要： A self-adjusting lid switch for a type washing machine connects the switch to the lid by means of a slip joint composed of intermeshing toothed plates spring biased together. The first time the washing lid is closed the plates slip with respect to each other so that the switch is just actuated when the lid is closed. In this way a limited and predictable lifting of the lid de-actuates the switch so as to stop the washing machine before access to the washing machine tub is obtained.

摘要： A switch for a washing machine lid or the like detects welded load contact through an auxiliary set of contacts which shunt the load when the first set of contacts should be open and thus provide a high-current path when those contacts are welded. A series fusible link mechanically activates a set of disconnect contacts which disconnects the washing machine motor. The resulting switch has a single operator that may be collapsible to be self-adjusting permitting the switch to snap in place without the need for a separate adjustment step in the manufacturing process.

摘要： An object of the present invention is to provide a thermostat including a protection circuit for protecting a circuit even if contacts of the thermostat are welded. Movable contacts are disposed in both ends of a resilient plate deformed by a thermally responsive member and stationary contacts are disposed to correspond to both the movable contacts. External terminals are disposed to correspond to the stationary contacts. The strength of the spring on the side of one movable contact of the resilient member is made weaker than the strength of the spring on the side of the other movable contact. Normally, the movable contact having the weaker strength of the spring is opened and closed in response to the deformation of the thermally responsive member and if this contact are welded, the other movable contact is opened and closed. In the preferred embodiment, the second thermally responsive member for operating one movable contact is provided.
