    摘要: A high frequency ultrasound analog beamformer comprises a linear array of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices formed on a single crystal piezoelectric substrate, such as a PMN-PT single crystal piezoelectric substrate. Each SAW device comprises ultrasound input and output electrode structures separated by a variable delay structure. The beamformer further comprises a delay controller operably connected to each variable delay structure to control the delay of each SAW device to dynamically focus signals received at each input electrode.

    摘要: An ultrasonic structure which has a thin planar sheet of material forming a Lamb wave propagation medium The propagation medium is coated with a gel. The structure may also include a Lamb wave generator for generating Lamb waves in the propagation medium and an output device for producing an electrical signal representative of the propagation characteristics of the Lamb waves propagating along the propagation medium. A measuring device can be included to measure selected characteristics of the output electrical signal. The propagation medium has some physical characteristics that are determined by the value of a measurand acting on the medium and the determined physical characteristics determine the propagation characteristics of the Lamb waves which are propagated along the medium. When the sensor is acted on by a measurand to determine the physical characteristics of the propagation medium, the characteristics of the electrical signal are also determined. The measuring device measures the electrical signal and provides an indication of the measurand value.

    摘要: An apparatus is featured for controlling remote devices. The status or one or more switches associated with remote devices may be transmitted along a single transmission line. One end of the transmission line contains a surface acoustical wave (SAW) delay line. The SAW delay line responds to an interrogation pulse of radio frequency electromagnetic energy with a series of delayed pulses, each of which transmits the status of a switch by means of the presence or absence of the pulse. The SAW delay line and switches are completely passive, requiring no power source. The transmission line may optionally be interrupted and coupled by means of a pair of inductive coils. This offers the potential for rotation, as within a steering column of an automobile, without wear or damage to the transmission line. The other end of the transmission line contains electronic circuitry to provide the interrogation pulse, to decode the return delayed pulses, and to drive other circuitry as required by the switch positions.

    摘要: A surface wave component has a pair of interdigital transducer comb structures carried spaced apart on a surface of a substrate which is carried on a base plate. In one embodiment, signal leads extend beneath the substrate to areas adjacent the rear portions of the comb structures and are capacitively coupled thereto via the substrate which is a dielectric. In another embodiment, inductive coupling loops interconnect the rear portions of the comb structures of a respective transducer and another inductive loop is carried on the opposite side of the substrate for signal coupling. In both embodiments both symmetrical and asymmetrical signal coupling is provided by utilizing a grounding plate or layer as a signal lead.

    摘要: An acoustic periodic structure for slow wave propagation and filtering having a corrugated surface with traction-free boundaries which can support a horizontally polarized shear surface wave that travels much slower than the bulk shear wave velocity and that exhibits an upper cut-off frequency. Electrodes are located on the tops of the teeth forming the corrugated surface and alternate electrodes are excited out of phase, the distribution of the excitation voltage phases determining the particular mode of resonance.
