    摘要: An electronic music system which imitates acoustic instruments addresses the problem wherein the audio spectrum of a a recorded note is entirely shifted in pitch by transposition. The consequence of this is that unnatural formant shifts occur, resulting in the phenomenon known in the industry as "munchkinization." The present invention eliminates munchkinization, thus allowing a substantially wider transposition range for a single recording. Also, the present invention allows even shorter recordings to be used for still further memory improvements. An analysis stage separates and stores the formant and excitation components of sounds from an instrument. On playback, either the formant component or the excitation component may be manipulated.

    摘要: A musical tone generating apparatus is provided for an electronic musical instrument. The apparatus comprises a musical tone signal generating device and a parameter controller. The musical tone signal generating device generates a musical tone signal characterized by a tone parameter whose value is supplied from the parameter controller. The parameter controller comprises a target value generator and an interpolation device, which operate independently. The target value generator generates a target value of the tone parameter to the interpolation device, and the interpolation device interpolates between a present value of the tone parameter and the target value, so that the present value is renewed consecutively. The interpolation device generates an interrupt signal to the target value generator when the present value reaches the target value, so that an operation of the target value generator is interrupted then the target value generator operates to generate a new target value to the interpolation device in response to the interrupt signal. The parameter controller changes a characteristic of the musical tone signal such as a frequency characteristic or amplitude with respect to a lapse of time based on the present value of the tone parameter.

    摘要: A digital filter imparting a desired tone color to the tone signal is realized by the combination of a digital pole filter and a digital zero filter capable of controlling a pole and a zero in an amplitude-frequency characteristic respectively. The amplitude-frequency characteristic of the digital filter is a composite of the respective characteristics of the pole filter and the zero filter. A "peak" portion and a "valley" portion in this composite characteristic can be set independently by the pole control of the pole filter and the zero control of the zero filter, whereby the desired tone color characteristic can be readily realized. Further, the digital filter may comprise a plurality of digital filters having respective different constructions and a connection switching circuit capable of setting arbitrarily connection between these filters. The filter characteristic as a whole can be diversely altered by changing the connection, whereby diverse tone color characteristics can be realized with ease.

    摘要: An improved method for shifting the pitches of a tone is disclosed. It comprises: (a) subjecting a digitized original waveform to a whitening process using an all-zero filter (AZF) to obtain a whitened waveform; (b) resampling the whitened waveform at a desired scaling ratio to obtain a scaled and whitened waveform; (c) subjecting the scaled and whitened waveform to a coloring process using an all-pole filter (APF) to obtain a synthesized waveform. In a preferred embodiment, the all-zero filter performs the transformation function of: ##EQU1## and the all-pole filter performs the transformation function of: ##EQU2## wherein the a.sub.i 's and b.sub.i 's are linear predictive coefficients. The whitened waveforms can be compressed and stored as wavetables, which can be subsequently retrieved and decompressed before resampling.
